771 suggestions?

I'm seeing 771 errors with some frequency on one of my 2 HR20-700s. We've had some stormy weather, so its likely that the initial loss of signal is legit. The problem is that the box doesn't ever seem to recover. I have to reset it to get signal back. Meanwhile the other HR20 and my HR10 chug merrily along.

The only difference I can think of between the HR20 boxes is that the one that keeps working is almost always tuned to OTA or MPEG2. The one that doesn't recover from the 771 is almost always tuned to MPEG4.

Both boxes are connected to the same dish and multiswitch, with only a short cable run (about 6 feet) from the multiswitch.

I tend to think this is a software issue somehow, but would welcome any suggestions.

You'll want to do a menu based reset of the receiver. That'll get the tuner back working. This is an issue that seems to pop up here and there when rain fade occurs. I had it occur yesterday on 1 out of 3 HR20-700's. Did a reboot and good go now.

Yes, a menu based reset always fixes the problem. Of course, it is a pain to endure a several minute reset process to watch TV. And I miss any scheduled recordings in the mean time. Not good.
