I've had direct for 30 hrs and several rain fades. After the rain fade some channels will not come in(searching mesage) such as TNT-HD and SHO-HD(543) unless I press the red reset button. Do I have a bad receiver(HR20-100)?

Its possible. More likely though, your alignment is way off if you've had multiple rain fade events in such a short period of time.

Please post your signal levels, most inportantly those on 103(c).

103(c)
Tuner1-1-8: 93,96,86,94,92,95,86,93
9-14: 91,94,89,95,93,95
15+20: 95,96 all others N/A
Tuner2-1-8: 86,95,82,94,86,95,80,91
9-14: 84,93,81,94,85,95
15+20: 88,95 all others N/A

I notice that the odd transponders are less than the even and tuner2 is weaker than tuner1. I believe 110 has some HD channels and the numbers from the three channels there are of concern on tuner2.
Tuner1-Tr.8-95;Tr.10-90;Tr.12-96
Tuner2-Tr.8-0 ;Tr.10-0 ; Tr.12-47.
All others on 110 are N/A

Looks like a issue with tuner 2 with the 110 sat. Others have reported similar (poor) readings here as well.

It should still be covered under the install warrenty, I'd get them to bring out a replacement & check things over or have them send you a replacement through FedEx.

If you where in Northern NJ on Tuesday Night I would expext that no matter how aligned your dish is you had significant rain fade. There was major storm (Tornado warnings) that were severe. The rain was like a wall coming down.

The weather maps had total red across most of NJ for hours.

If you still have signal loss than I would suggest getting the system checked

Spoke with a direct tv tech on the phone who said that 103(c) signals should all be in the 90s or there will be rain fade problems. Problem might be the multiswitch and they are coming to look at it.
