I recently sent an email to WNDS (Channel 50) and NH PTV asking if they would be included in the Boston local package and got the following answers:
1) Yes, we have been approved for some time and are
awaiting for the technical part to be completed
(probably April.) Thanks for writing.
Sincerely;
WNDS TV 50
2) Dear Bruce,
Thank you for contacting New Hampshire Public Television with your inquiry.
We are currently working with DirecTV to add NHPTV to their local package. We have just been added to the local package of Dish Network/Echostar. For more information on this service, please click www.nhptv.org. When I do hear more information concerning NHPTV and DirecTV, I will pass it along to you via email.
I hope that this helps.

Bruce,
Thanks so much for posting this info. We were pleased that the Boston locals package included the two Boston area PBS stations. But we were bummed that in switching from cable to DirecTV we were going to lose the New Hampshire PBS station. If this should come to pass we will be very pleased to retain the luxury of three local PBS stations all broadcasting different programing.
I think perhaps I will drop them an email and urge them to follow through on this.
Peace - James/N8SBU

Glad I could pass the info on to you James. We watch NHPTV at our summer home in Vermont so will be pleased to be able to see it the rest of the year. And a good idea to send them an email to show there is support for them getting added to the lineup.

I send a note of support to them this morning Bruce. Anyone else who might wish to email NHPTV [PBS] can do so here (themailbox@nhptv.org).

I just got a reply from NHPTV, what follows is their answer...
Hi,
Yes we are currently putting an antenna system up in Somerville where DIRECTV's Boston headend is located. We expect it to be ready and evaluated by DIRECTV personnel within a couple of weeks. If the signal is acceptable to them they have up to sixty days to put it on their system.
We are currently on the Dish Network also.

According to DirecTV we will be available on their service in the Boston Designated Market on May 21st. DirecTV customers with older receivers will find NHPTV on Channel 955. DirecTV customers with newer receivers will find NHPTV on Channel 11. We are not sure of the exact areas where our signal will be received.
I hope that this helps. Please check our web site periodically for updates and information.
