Yes, the 325 channel position will go away in a week or so. Remember that Spike used to be TNN, which was The Nashville Network, which was similar to GAC, makiing its placement with other music channels logical. It is now just another general rerun channel and now belongs in that group.

What happened to ABC Family? It was supposed to be in this group.Delayed...no reason given yet. It's coming, just not today.

On 207 ESPNNews HD my picture is cut off on the left side on 2 of my TV's other three TV's are fine, is anyone else seeing this ?It's called "overscan". Your TV must not be showing the whole picture, pixel for pixel. Check your owner's manual on how to possibly adjust it (it might be as simple as changing an "aspect" on the TV, or may be more difficult..like going into the service menus).

My 1:1, pixel mapping HDTV is showing a 1" border around all the graphics, so your overscan issue may be severe.

Bunnytown (I am watching this?) is for sure HD (at least true 16x9). The SD channel doesn't have the same stuff on the sides. Same is true for Lilo and Stitch on Toon Disney (now, that I can watch without blowing my brains out).

And the earlier stuff I saw was 4x3 (at 6ish ET). Good job, Disney.

I'm betting majority of Disney Channel's shows will be HD......hell they had Phineas and Ferb in HD after all their previews on the 101.

Glad to see the new channels. Close to half of my TV viewing is on Disney with my daughter watching MM Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh AND Little Einsteins right now. I'm interested to see the HD versions of those shows.

On that note... it occurred to me that my approaching 3 year old daughter will probably never really remember what SD TV is/was. Within the next year, I'm guessing that 95+% of all that we watch will be in HD.

I see that Comcast in Fort Wayne added ABC Family HD and AMC HD today. I wonder what held up D* from launching ABC Family HD? I didn't even know that AMC had an HD feed. This would be a great channel for D* to add if they show the movies in True HD (not stretch-o-vision). And it's great to hear that Disney does not stretch 4x3 programming. If only other stations (like TBS) would adhere to this. I've been waiting for ESPNews for a long time. Let's hope they don't dramatically change the channel and start overproducing it now.

Ahh, thats right, It went into a fourth season because of backlash from 7 year old girls. :hurah:

Either way, even if it is not HD, its probably at least a better picture and in widescreen. I would think most "cartoons" produced in the past few years were produced in a higher resolution anyways. Some TVs have the settings in their menus, others have them in their "service menus".

I am not familiar with the service menus on Hitachi TVs. If you have a technician change the overscan settings in your service menu make sure he knows what he is doing. Going into the service menu and changing a setting can accidentaly brick your TV.

If there is any doubt try to find an ISF tech in your area to do it.

My Samsung LCD has a few different "aspect" settings. Usually, I leave it on "Just Scan", which gives me 0% overscan, 1:1 pixel mapping. To remove some captioning garbage or the vertical left border line on NBC, I'll change the aspect to "16:9", which pushes the overscan to about 3-5%, I believe. Even with that aspect enabled, I'm getting no clipping of any info/graphics on ESPNews HD.

In other words, if you ARE having overscan issues with ESPNews HD, you're missing parts of the image on other channels as well...and your overscan is a bit severe. I'd seriously look into the manual of your TV or getting a local technician to reduce/remove the overscan. But VeniceDre's warning should be payed attention to: you can SERIOUSLY "damage" your TV if you don't know what you're doing in the service menus.

I am guessing we won't start seeing West coast feeds of anything until after D11 is fully up and running, however, at that point, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a lot of west coast feeds of stations that are in HD on east coast feeds now... It will dramatically increase their HD channel count and won't keep them from adding more stations because they'll have plenty of room... What I really wonder is.. Will Directv be getting two separate signals for east and west, or do the Broadcaster want them to simply delay their east coast feeds by 3 hours, and if is, does Directv already have that equipment in place?

I'm surprised with how many shows Disney and Toon Disney have in HD. They just showed Yin Yang Yo! and it was in HD, actually it was the only reason I watched it. Didn't care for it though.

Now they've got Batman: The Animated Series on, one of my favorite cartoons ever. Unfortunately it wasn't done in 16:9 so it's 4x3. At least they're showing it in its proper format.

In HD:
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Bunnytown
Kim Possible
Phineas and Ferb
Lilo and Stitch (TV series)
My Friends Tigger & Pooh
The Emperor's New School
Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!
Lou and Lou Safety Patrol
Handy Manny
The Replacements
Twitches (DCOM - Disney Channel Original Movie)
American Dragon: Jake Long
House of Mouse

Coming in HD (according to promotional material):
Hannah Montana

The only one I've personally seen of these is Kim Possible. I first looked at Disney HD during an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and it wasn't in HD.

I have Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, Tigger & Pooh, Bunnytown, and the Doodlebops recording this morning and will look at them tonight when I get home.

As far as ESPNews goes, it looks great on my TV. No over/underscan; it fits perfectly. I like how it's setup so you can see what's coming in the info bar on the left.

I noticed that too last night. Did it a few times during their Jetix block; the picture broke apart a few times as well.

Seems like that sort of thing is common on the 720p channels when they're new, then it will eventually go away.

Unfortunately, with the particular quirk of the HR20, I cannot watch ESPN News HD, since the graphics on the left are shoved too far off the screen to read them. I thought this would be a problem as soon as I saw the screenshots. I reported this issue with the HR20 and HDMI on my Mitsubishi over a year ago, but no progress has been made.

(OK, I know how to get into the mintenance system on the TV and move the picture, but I haven't done it because then all my other sources, like the HR21, the DVD, the game consoles, and even the VCR will be shoved off the right side of the screen, so I have just learned to live with this out of the HR20. Maybe if they ever add the screen adjust feature to the HR20, like it was supposed to have, then it would not be a problem)

ESPNEWS HD makes use of the screen size nicely, BTW! I like their format.

I was thinking the same thing Smiddy....it reminds me of how good Fox financial looked when they went HD. I found myself watching it (which I have zero interest in), just to appreciate the production values. Of course, it didn't last, but it was fun for a while.

ESPN News, on the other hand, will get a LOT more attention from me than it has been, now that they have the crisp HD and new production values. I had stopped watching ESPN news for a long time, because I couldn't stand the blurry presentation. I've gotten very spoiled. If something isn't in HD (other than MSNBC/CNN/Fox/RFD), I don't watch it. SD has become, for me, unwatchable.

for some reason i couldn't get my reciever to recognize them as HD. i checked to make sure i wasn't using favorite lists and at one point i even performed a RBR.

as i pondered this problem i left the channel on espn news SD, went away, walked the dog, took out the trash and dug up an old bill so i could get the D* number. but when i returned my reciever had changed to channel 201 (DirecTV Basics). lo and behold when i went back to 207 it was in HD.

Disney was still not in HD but when i changed to the SD channel and left it for about 10 minutes, the receiver went to 201 again and I had 290 and 292 in HD.

this is contrary to most people who have posted that they just got the channel in HD, so if you're still having problems getting the channels, i suggest you try tuning it in and waiting it out

oh yeah ESPN News HD is awesome (i think the blue looks much better in HD than the traditional sportscenter red)

Coota, this is pretty much true of any SD channel and why we prefer HD channels so much -- even if they are only broadcasting up-converted SD content.

DirecTV's SD channels suffer from HEAVY, HEAVY compression and look pretty poor. In comparison, their new HD channels with MPEG-4 compression look great and have very little additional compression, if any at all. This is why the same SD content with same amount of detail looks WAY better on the HD broadcast.

I totally disagree. I record the Wiggles (an SD show) for my daughter. That show looked terrible on 290 SD channel, but it looks so much better on the 290 HD channel.

There is a persistent audio problem on both 290HD and 292HD though that still needs to be fixed. See http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=125416 for more.

Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! was in HD last night. Colors were so crisp and clean. Much better than Cartoon Network. No stretching and no motion artifacts. I found myself watching almost the whole show and I had never seen it before.

All HD providers need to take a look at what Disney is doing. This is the way to transition yourself correctly to HD.

I agree, I think they have done a pretty good job so far, actually launching true HD shows instead of launching the channel with no content.

Any chance Finding Nemo is in HD tonight on Disney 290? There isn't any indication in the Guide it will be but maybe we'll get lucky.

Last time when it was on ABCHD I missed it and the Blu-ray got pushed back to an '09 release.
