View Full Version : DirecTV needs to change their website...
Their scrolling logos (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=P4380110) make one believe that the following channels are already carried by DirecTV:
Chiller HD
BET HD
MTV 2 HD
Outdoor HD
...they aren't...

The April Entertainment Guide email I received claimed that The Gospel Music Channel (ch. 338) was HD, too!

The channel is moving permanently to 241 as it makes better sense there now that it's not TNN. It will be mirrored for a week, then disappear from 325.

Who knows, perhaps we could be in for another festivus sometime soon? :)
I would agree. To me that's false advertising. Light 'em up or remove them from the website.

Wow still wanting more HD channels? E* customers would love to be in our shoes now, Directv is the only provider that actually provides us with lots of HD content I would not question D* anymore about when are we getting new HD. From what I can see they will give us all the channels when the time is right

And car companies shouldn't advertise a car before it's at the dealers?
There is a specific page on DirecTV's site that says what stations are available right this moment in HD. I don't see any of these channels listed. But I guess that's too obvious.

There is a specific page on DirecTV's site that says what stations are available right this moment in HD. I don't see any of these channels listed. But I guess that's too obvious.Advertisements are supposed to be designed towards "the lowest common denominator", i.e., "Joe Blow". Listing a logo of a channel NOT currently carried right next to channels that they ARE currently carrying can only cause confusion and expectations. It's obvious "fluff" for their website and serves no purpose in that spot...other than to fluff. Removing the logos (or clearly marking them as "coming soon") would reduce any possible confusion or over expectations.
But I guess removing or labeling those channels as such would be too obvious...or difficult.

No, what's "too obvious" is a banner on the main DIRECTV "What's New in HD" page that says "OVER 90 OF YOUR FAVORITE CHANNELS NOW IN HD" and a scrolling list directly below that contains logos for some channels that are NOT available in HD (at least through DIRECTV).

Or is there some part of "NOW IN HD" that you don't understand?
Also... FSN New York (Now MSG+) has been gone a few weeks now... wake up D*. FSN is still listed on the HD page.
