Disappointing local PQ (Lost in HD)

I watched last week's "Lost" that I had recorded (this is an HD feed) and was woefully disappointed in the recompression artifacts that were everywhere in this feed. Anytime they zoomed in on Michael the background would be blotchy and moving. The recorded feed from my OTA HD antenna was not this way, so I know it's DirecTV messing with the feed.

I really wish they wouldn't do that -- it makes the "HD" less interesting.

Must be something going on between your local ABC affiliate and the signal being sent to D*. Lost here in Buffalo from my local ABC affiliate on D* looks just as good as OTA. D* may need to reboot the encoder for your ABC channel - they had to do that for our NBC affiliate in late December as our NBC looked bad. All has been well since then.
