As long as you have a E* or a D* box for that matter with a connector for an off air antenna such as a E* VIP622 or the D* HR20 the transition from satellite channel to off air will be seamless. You shouldn't need to physically move any cables.

yes, dish box like vip622. Wasnt expecting to physically move a cable but would prefer not to have to push some sort of input button on the STB remote when switching between OTA and satellite. Sounds like it does not

thanks

I don't know your exact setup. But you should not have to push any buttons or move any cables to view an OTA channel. If the channel is in your program guide you can view it just like any other channel.

Assuming that you connect the antenna to the ANT IN port on the back of the Dish receiver, then that's all you need to do. OTA channels will be integrated with the EPG and you can change back and forth at will.

OTA channels will have -01, -02, etc designations so to go directly to a channel (for example channel 5.1 OTA I have to type 005-01) you may have to type a little more to get there. Sometimes you can shorthand and don't have to type all the leading zeroes like I gave in my example as long as there is no similarly numbered channel nearby.

I just type 5 for OTA chanel five. No need to type the other stuff.

Basically typing out the full channel makes it go immediately vs hitting 5 and waiting. Also it is quicker if you don't have another channel that begins with 5 nearby that the receiver waits to see if you've selected.

In many cases, you can just type one number for single-digit locals especially if you want to go to the first channel (5.1)... but the only way I know to go directly to 5.2 is typing it all the way out, so I figured it was worth explaining the full version.
