I just had the 5lnb dish installed (contractor no D*). I have four lines coming off dish to house. Two lines going to new HR21 which is fully functional and working great. Two other lines go to old HR10 which isn't getting any signal from satelite. On the guided satelite setup deal on the hr10 there isn't an option for 5lnb (3 max). I verified all lines are solidly connected except at lnb.

Do I need a multiswitch for the hr10 or did the installer miswire something at the lnbs?

I offered D* a quick solution would be to send me another HR21 for free but they didn't want to do it!? Gas money for the tech alone would cover the cost.

Thanks!

Did you try to swap the Hr21 on the other 2 cables (the ones that aren't working with the HR10)
You should have 4 cables connected to the dish
I wonder if the guy put a multi switch (check that)

You don't need a multiswitch for thisproblem. You only have 4 total tuners. The Slimline has a 4 port switch built in. Since the HR10 can't process the two new sats there is no need to see them. You can choose the 3-LNB and be fine.

I know he doesn't need a multi switch but WE don't know what the installer did, and what the customer asked for the installation. (later he might add another DVR who knows)
I was just asking to eliminate the possibilities and tried to figure out what the problem could be.

Oh...sorry...my post wasn't really in rsponse to yours. :)

It was in response to the OP mentioning it.

There is no multiswitch installed. All four wires going out of dish go directly to recievers. I'll try switch them up tonight. Why would it make a difference?

Because if you move the HR21 to the cables that are now connected to the HR10 and then the HR21 no longer works, then you probably have a cable problem. And visa versa, if the HR10 works where the HR21 used to. However, a cable problem would be likely, you still can't rule out that eh LNB assembly doesn't have a problem either.

Check those connections at the LNB assembly if you can. Make sure you don't have a little briad wire touching the center copper conductor for example.
