I was thinking of switching from Dish to Direct TV but noticed that CBS is not in HD. I know that Dish doesn't have locals in HD only over the air which is very annoying but I was wondering if CBS will be in HD on direct tv soon.

The Indy CBS is owned by LIN TV and they are holding out for more money from Directv for the right to retransmit the HD signal. I'm in the same boat here in Buffalo.
Dish and LIN TV did just come to an agreement and Dish can retransmit LIN HD signals now (assuming Dish offer HD locals in a particular city).

Thanks for the info. Can you get over the air CBS HD? with Direct TV?

Yes I can because I have the HR20, which has a built in ATSC tuner so I can record OTA seamlessly as if it were coming from the sat. However, D* mainly installs the HR21 now, which does not have the tuner, but a separate add on box - the AM21 - will be available soon. Once it is connected to the HR21 via a USB cable, the HR21 will be able to view/record OTA just like the HR20.

I simply hooked an antenna to my HDTV. I didn't go through the box, because I don't really record anything on local channels anyway. All the shows I watch are on cable channels. But I do get CBS HD with this setup for sports.
