Just curious, I've never called Directv and asked for anything. In fact only called them twice in 2 yeard for anything. Do they offer any deals on the mlb package?

Probably not till mid-season.

Early Bird specials are over...

You may get lucky and get something during the free-preview week

I was wondering the same thing, but haven't seen any deals.

I'd like to purchase it, but 180 bucks is pretty steep. I understand they charge a lot because it's so many games, but man 180 bucks just doesn't do it for me.

Johan Santana got a pretty good deal not too long ago! :D

The had 'deals' if you were renewing from last year.
They had 'deals' before the free preview.
They've been running a 'deal' during free preview.

The next 'deal' probably won't be till the 'half season' offer.

You still get more games, including now both home and away broadcasts, than Sunday Ticket for less money.

So, how much is the non-early bird special after April 6th?

I checked it out earlier today on Directv.com and I don't think what I saw was a special because of the free preview. 180 or so plus 50 for superfan I believe.

I see the $179 price too. But DirecTV.com says "Act, now, offer ends April 6!"

I'd like to know that also, but haven't heard..

I just called DirecTV and was told that this price is what's offered till July. So, just a bit misleading on there web site.

I was told that there is a package for $169 and this package has an automatic renewal for next season.

Don't waste your money.

I wouldn't but they're telling me I need it to get Brewer's games. I live in NE Iowa.

My understanding was that people in most of Iowa could get FSN-North (and possibly FSN-Midwest) by merely adding the SportsPak to their package and get Brewers games as a result. Seeing you're in NE Iowa, that's probably even a safer bet. Just a thought.

Check out the directv website (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P3000004) to see if this applies to you. I would trust the website rather than what reps trying to sell the extra innings package are trying to tell you.

Adding the Sports Pak does not gain you access to professional sports aired on those stations. No baseball, no NBA, no NHL. You have to have the professional sports package to view any of the games.

For me, it's not a 'waste' of money because it's my primary viewing during the summer months. Especially the StrikeZone channel.

Really? I thought that Iowa was basically claimed by the Twins, Brewers, and everyone else, so he could get it with the sports pack as his home area?

If not, I'd just spend less than half the money and get MLB.tv. It sucks to watch at your computer in some cases but my experience with EI has not been good so far. I've seen a ton of FSN audio glitches that the Brewers games have apparently also had, AND the whole blackout issue. Not worth $200+ IMO.

If teams carried on stations besides your standard regional sports network claim your area, then you can see additional professional games.

For instance, here in Arkansas if you add the Sports Pack you can receive St. Louis Cardinal games on FSN Midwest, since the Cardinals claim Arkansas as their TV Territory.

I've dealt with this all week. Yes I'm claimed by the Brewer's territory, however I still get blacked out of FSN Wisconsin for some odd reason. D* tells me the zip codes they got from MLB DO NOT include me in the Brewer's terrority therefore I have to get EI to get the Brewer's even though MLB.com tells me i'm in their territory. I don't get it either, but it's what I'm told. Do I think it's BS? Yep, but what do I do? If I want to watch them I have to give in.

Yes the website tells me I can get FSN North, but that's the Twins station. I need FSN Wisconsin which doesn't appear when I type my zip code in. It's really weird because people in Des Moines get FSN Wisconsin and the Brewer games, then you move east to me which I'm a mile or two off the Wisconsin border and I don't get them. Move east another couple miles from me and they get them. How do you figure that? :nono2:

There is no separate listing on that page for FSN Wisconsin. If the Brewers are listed under FSN-North, then you should get them on FSN Wisconsin. If you see the Brewers listed on that page when you enter your zipcode and they're telling you that you will be blacked out even with SportsPak, I think they are misinforming you. If that's the case, it might be worth paying the fee for SportsPak for one month before purchasing Extra Innings if all you're interested in is the Brew Crew.

Out of curiosity, when the games have been shown on Extra Innings free preview can you see both the FSN Wisconsin feed and the other team's feed, or are you blacked out of the other team's feed?

I gave up on MLB.TV because they had many of the same stupid blackout rules. These three examples off the top of my head:

- could not watch a Giants home game on my laptop when I was in San Francisco because it was being televised locally.
- could not watch the Indians in the ALCS because Fox had exclusive rights. All of the U.S. was blacked out on MLB.TV, only internationals could watch.
- could not watch any game on Saturday afternoon during the Fox blackout window.

My solution: Watch my Slingbox in Cleveland for Indians games from anywhere, and www.myp2p.eu (free) for other games.
