I am a little confused between the dual and single modes on my 722... When I had the system installed, the installer paired (722) the receiver with a TV we thought would be able to accept the send tuner, it did not. Do I have to disconnect TV 2 from the COAX to use both tuners for recording, or do I simply switch the 722 to single mode?

QUICK COMMENT: so far we have not had problems with our 722 but, why is the third tuner a ATSC tuner not a third satellite tuner? I think if you had (cable) or in this case satellite you would not need a seperate off-air tuner (especially when the OTA antenna is not included).

Simply switch to single mode.
Just curious, what is the reason why your second TV cannot be used with the 722?

because it cannot find the two channels but, its okay I think it is because it is more than 10yrs old.

DISH includes the OTA ATSC tuner (3rd tuner) for the areas of the country that have, and are able to receive their local digital channels in HD, but where DISH has yet to be able to uplink those stations on to its satellites as yet.
If you decide to use an external UHF antenna and receive your OTA channels, you would also get the use of an additional tuner, and full integration for your off-air channels into your 722 program guide. (you must be a DISH local subscriber in order to receive guide integration)
With OTA connected, and in single mode, you can record 3 separate HD events, while viewing a 4th from DVR playback. It's quite nice.
