Orioles' Bechler dead at 23

He went 6-9 with a 4.09 ERA as a 23 year old pithcer in Triple A last year. Very Sad. Heat exhaustion or likely he had some previously unknown medical condition that contributed.

Rest in peace Steve Bechler. He was a nice prospect for the Orioles.

He was taking ephedrine to help him lose weight (which he struggled with) and maintain energy. They found it in his locker. The drug caused a high fever, heat stroke, and finally complete organ system failure. His temperature rose to 42C degrees (108F), and he cooked his insides. His wife is pregnant with his baby and they were only married year. Sad. People just don't listen to medical advice. We doctors have been saying for YEARS to avoid that crap.

Sad news indeed, I read his wife is 7 months pregnant. :(
