Anyone know how to do this?
I click OK but it seems to keep coming back, and until I get a few HDPC-20s I can't record except in 480i.

What do you mean, you can't "record" excpent in 480i ?
The HR2* units, don't need to be set to 480i... for you to use your S-Video/Composite video outputs.
Those are alwasy locked to 480i, regardless if you are outputing a 720/1080 signal to your TV.

Also, does this refer to an HR20/HR21 receiver, or an H20/H21 receiver?

They are H20s -
I think I didn't explain myself well..
I am getting a message on screen about "to get the most out of your reciever switch to 720p or 1080i".
The problem is that I record in 480i, since I record via S-Video. As I record to my Vista media center.
But I can't seem to find a way to turn the message off I have had to trash several programs.

Set the available resolutions to exclude anything other then 480i

Thats the thing Earl... both units only have the 480i box selected.

Or turn "native on", so it will switch to HD resolutions as needed and you'll still have 480i out the S-Video.

Any chance he has an HD receiver connected to an SD set. CHanging the resloution in that case won't help him will it? I do. And I get that message mainly when I change channels to Local HD channels.

they are HD recievers connected to a capture card into media center

Sounds like the simplest thing is to select all of the resolutions and use native on.
Your media center will be fed off the S-Video and you might even set the receiver for a 4:3 TV so the S-Video would be in the correct aspect ratio. SD in 4:3 and HD in letterbox.
rgreenpc is not the only person getting this Info box pop-up.
I have an H20 hooked up to an SD tv.
Yeah I know it's overkill but the TV will eventually be replaced with an HDTV. It's just a living room tv that the fiance uses.
Seems every time the box gets turned on the message pops up.
I ONLY have 480i resolution selected and am using composite connection to the tv.
Slightly annoying.

Try selecting the HD resolutions and then still use the composite connection. This will keep your SD TV in 480 and yet have the receiver "think" you're set to HD.

It is very annoying when it shows up on something I've recorded for the first 10 minutes of the show before it finally goes away.
Have the above fixes worked for people? I'm seeing this on my H21s hooked up to Tivo Series 2 with SD TVs.

Like the others have said set your output resolution to 720 or 1080 and you can still use the s-video that is how i have mine with my capture card and i have never gotten that message

I had neglected to look at this thread I am so glad I came back to check. This looks to have worked... now my wife won't kill me until the HDPC-20 comes out in.... ummm I'll just assume this decade.
