View Full Version : Wonder Pets not recording properly

I've got a SL setup for The Wonder Pets on both 298 NOG & 299 NICKHD.

Record Both
Keep 3 Episodes
Until I Delete

I repeatedly get cancelled recordings with the following: "Cancelled because another matching program was scheduled to record (10/0/)"

I just looked at the episodes, and nothing new for the NOG SL is set to record until 4/21!! There don't appear to be any conflicts in the to do list either.

Another thing I noticed regarding the episodes for NOG is that some of the episodes have the actual title in them and some just say "Wonder Pets". Would this cause an issue? If so, then why do those episodes show up under episodes but not in the ToDo?

Can someone help or explain?

This is a guide data issue and occurs with other shows as well.
Of the Wonder Pets that do record successfully, how many of those just say "Wonder Pets", and how many have the proper episode description?

It appears that only episodes that DONT have a description are being recorded - ie, only episodes that say "The Wonder Pets!". Not episodes that say "Save the Elephant, Save the Turtle", etc. At least on NOG 298

How many episodes do you currently have on your DVR?

If you already have 3, it wouldn't record any new ones because you have KUID selected.

No, because the programmers at D* decided the "I" in KUID doesn't really mean "I", it will continue to record and delete the oldest.

Do a search for "Blues Clues" and you'll get an idea of the issues the HR20 has with kids shows.

Maybe do a little experiment and change the Series settings to "First Run Only". I know this can be risky considering the "kid factor", but it might be interesting to see what it picks up if you're not asking for 'Both'.

Not correct. KUID doesn't work that way. the HR20 will continue to record (or it is supposed to).

Believe me, I did prior to starting this thread - but I felt that a new thread needs to be started as it does not appear that D* is addressing the issue.

If the episodes appear under my SL, and there is no conflict, then they should record.

All along I thought it was due to the KUID setting!! ha ha ha

Go into the Prioritizer and pull up the SL for Wonder Pets. Select the Episodes menu choice and then look at which episodes have the R)) icon next to them. Due to the R)) bug, you might get the icon next to multiple showings of the same episode, but at least one of those episodes should record (check your ToDo list to verify though).

When you select the SL if you just get the Recording Defaults screen that means the SL is not seeing any future episodes of Wonder Pets. You can try deleting it and recreating it as that sometimes corrects the issue (for a little while).

This issue is completely a Guide Data problem. DirecTV is not passing down the Guide Data that is needed to differentiate First Runs from Repeats. It is a significant issue on the R15 and less so on the HR2x series as they do get some more information than the R15 does.

We record Wonder Pets off 299 and 300 without issue, perhaps it's an issue with the guide data with NOG (298).

Try recording off channel 299 or 300

He has it set to "record both".

I had this same issue with Dora the Explorer. It just wouldn't record it with a SL no matter how many times I tried. So, to keep my daughter happy, I have to select episodes and go through and hit the record button on each episode every few days so that they will record.

Recording well here from Nog 298 and NickHD 299 with
Record both
Keep 5 episodes
Keep until space needed

Try deleting the SL and reestablishing it

And if it turns out there's still an issue with the GUIDE data, you can always set up a recurring MANUAL recording to record that time-slot by "brute force", no matter what the GUIDE data says. /steve

He has it set to "record both".

Unfortunately, that doesn't matter. Since the Guide Data is lacking and does not contain the First Run or Repeat flag, a lot of times the episodes are then ignored by the SL.

"Record Both" will not record episodes the DVR thinks are duplicates. This is a big problem if the episode guide data is "generic", with no episode information at all, because the DVR thinks they are all duplicates. There are only two ways this could be fixed. First is for the channel to get the guide data correct. Second is for the DVR to have a third recording option "record all". Meanwhile there isn't much choice but to select each episode separately for recording.
