Alright here's my situation. I'm on my 2nd HR-20 with D*. The 1st one after almost a year started vibrating so loud it kept me up at night. They sent out a replacement about 3 weeks ago. Installed that one, then over the weekend I was listening to one of the XM music channels while doing some work around the house. Went to change the channel and lost all the new HD's and my HD locals. Tried rebooting...nothing. Called D* and they told me to switch the inputs on the back and it fixed the issue. At this point I'm getting a bit frustrated.

Skip forward to last night, the wife goes to watch the old D* tivo in the master bedroom and it's locked up. She freaks "Where's IDOL & Boston Legal???" I told her we'd watch IDOL in the living room on the HR-20. Hit play on IDOL from Tuesday and it's a 1 hour recording of a black screen. Try to play IDOL currently recording and it freezes on Seacrest introducing the show. PIECE OF CRAP! I called D* twice (1st time wife gets angry and they hang up on her). 2nd time getting thru they transfer me to tech support and we reboot it. Go to signal strength and only 1 tuner is getting a signal. Checked the multiswitch and everything seems to be hooked right. I haven't done anything to mess with it.

To make things worse, I ask if they can send a replacement for the bedroom Tivo and they told me to do a clear & delete first plus I asked for some sort of programming credit for my issues and she laughed at me! If it wasn't for the Sunday Ticket I'd go to cable or something else.

Any ideas on how to handle these issues???? I'm about done with D*. I've got the wife in my ear about making changes. I'm kind of stuck here!!!

:nono2:

If both of those units missed it...

It is possible that either your dish or the multiswitch has gone bad.

Try bypassing the multiswitch and hook the unit directly to the dish.

That's easier said then done. My dish is located on the other side of my house and definately not enough cable. The point of all of this is why should have to screw with it!!!! plug it in and go...I've had nothing but drama with all of these receivers. One tuner doesn't work. One freezes up. Then it takes 10 minutes to reboot. Get a sprinkle and the pic goes bad. I guess I'm really frustrated. I love D* programming choices and think the HR-20 could probably be a cool receiver if it freakin worked right!!!

Thanks

Noting your location, is there a chance the dish got knocked around during the storm? Enough to lose the 103 sat anyway?

Most of this was before the storm...I've called and setup a service call for this weekend so I guess I'll keep u posted.

I understand that...

But if it is a faulty multiswitch, or some else that has gone wrong (since both the units are having issues).... Then the best you can do is try to narrow it down.

Or schedule a DirecTV service call to have someone out to check the multiswitch and dish.

And given your symptoms you are posting... then yes... I do think you are having something wrong with your dish or multiswitch.

I cant provide you any help about your problem. But I can sympathize with your support interactions. In the short time I have been on satellite I have come to find they have some of the worst customer support I have ever come across. And I don't say this lightly as I myself provide customer support for a company larger than D* so I know how customers should be treated from being on both sides of the phone.
