Just got an update from my favorite supplier of computer stuff.
A Cavalry 2TB dual interface drive - eSATA and USB 2.0 - for the mere amount of $429.99 and FREE SHIPPING -- Plus a $35 rebate. This is a RAID unit, and probably has 2 of the WD 1tb units used in their single disk eSATA drive. Link is here:

So, here's my question. The box comes configured for Raid 1 by default but can be reconfigured for Raid 0 via Windows software.
If you reconfigure for Raid 0 via software and then connect to an HR21, will it retain the Raid 0 setting or will it go back to the default when the DVR reformats the drive?

Just received my 2TB cavalry. It is configured as a raid 1 but also is preformated
ntfs. My question is when I configure to raid 0 should I delete the allocated partitions as well? OS is windows Xp or Vista.

Pretty sure that reconfiguiring it will wipe it anyways..

nickb01, did you get this drive working in the DVR as Raid0? Do you have an HR20 or 21? How noisy is this Cavalry?

A year and a half ago, you'd pay that for a bare 1TB drive.

Installed software and Cavalry byway of usb on an XP computer.
Cavalry was configured as storage type 'big'. Reconfigured to Raid 0, powered down, and installed to HR20 with esata cable. Powered on Cavalry before power on of HR20. Working like a champ. It's very quiet and case is not even warm to the touch after being on all night. Still downloading programming, so
can't set up my season passes.

Let us know how it works out long term! Good find!
Is there somewhere in the DVR software that it tells you how much space is available for recording? Other than the % in the list?
Is there somewhere in the DVR software that it tells you how much space is available for recording? Other than the % in the list? No. That's it - just a relative percentage of space available.
