Hello all,

I have a question and am looking for an informed answer - naturally I come to this forum...

I have recently purchased a pvr 721 system in addition to my pvr 501 that I got a few years ago. I have a dual LNBF right now. I am looking to buy a Quad, but I want to make sure I get the right thing for current and future product lines. I'm checking out the Quad LNBF's on-line and I have found two different types - a "Dish Pro" and a "Legacy". I guess the "Dish Pro" only works with the newer model receivers (like the 721 and the 501 that I have) and the "Legacy" may or may not work - there are conflicting opinions on this...

Anyway, could someone shed some light on the differences here? I need 3 lines - 2 for the 721 and one for the 501. I have regular programming and locals (No HDTV or international stuff). I have a Dish 500 dish. Will any quad do? Or do I need a particular one?

Sorry if this is a "newbie" question, but I want to make sure I spend my money on the right thing.

Thanks,

Scott Kinnersley - csmdk@msn.com

Since you are using DP receivers, you should lean towards the DP LNB's. The 721 will take forever to download if you use legacy equipment.
As for the install, it would be much better to use a DP Twin to a DP34 switch. This way you would have both the needed outputs (3) and the extra input for the 61.5 dish if you choose, and it would eliminate the extra cost of the DP quad.

What does that mean? Since legacy LNBs are looking at the same satellite as DishPro LNBs why would it take longer to get software and EPG downloads? That does not make any sense.

I think he meant the check switch procedure.
