View Full Version : Seagate Drive Jumpers
Did anyone change the jumper to 3.0 eSATA speed instead of the 1.5 set by the factory? And if so is it in an enclosure or internal replacement ?

It depends.
The HR20 series will run fine at 1.5, whereas the HR21 series is designed for 3.0.
You have to read the documentation for the drive to see what the default is for that particular drive, and then adjust it (if needed) accordingly.

if set on 3 and hooked to a 1.5 system it runs fine, if set as 1.5 and hooked to a 3 system it works but is slower.
per seagate tech service last week running it on the 3 setting will cause no issues most of the time, same reply said all their drives act this way so internal/external should not matter.

I have an HR20 and use an Antec MX1 eSATA enclosure with a 750GB Seagate SATA 3.0 drive in it. I have the drive jumper set to 3.0 and it works perfectly!

You all know I've got to say this, right? If you open up your DVR you are violating your customer agreement, even more so if you change something inside.

For my HR20-100, I installed a 750GB Western Digital disk internally with the jumpers set for 3.0 and have had no problems.
