View Full Version : What does HR20 record when EI game is over?

When I had my HR10, the recording would end when the EI feed was cut. This would be indicated by the time-bar at the bottom of the screen. Although the recording would continue, there was no data, and you could tell how much longer was left in the game by just looking at the time-bar.

On my HR20-100, the recording of an EI game "appears" to continue even after the game is over and the on-screen message ("Searching for authorized content" or something like that) shows up. Is anything being recorded?

I am hoping that "non-authorized" content is NOT being recorded. That would be a stupid waste of disk space. Can anyone confirm?

What happens when you play it back? That should answer your question.

The DVR records the channel for the allotted timeslot. If the game ends before that, the DVR will continue to record.

Looks like once the authorization for the RSN is turned off at the end of the game, the HR2x stops recording any data. However, it does do into the "searching for authorized content" loop that is a real pain to rewind out of at the end of the recording.

How do you know it is not recording any more data? I know that I cannot watch the "extra" data, but do we know that it is not simply recording that data and then refusing to allow me to watch it?

This is the impression I had looking at the space percent change while deleting a 6 hour recording for a game that went ~3 hours. Certainly should be easy enough to test if one is curious.

How would the unit know to record data that you are not authorized to view? You are probaly getting a blank screen for the padded time. Just ffwd to the end of the game and see what you get.
