I just got an RFP to add some TV services to an MATV system, and they were surely drawn up by the lay-people on the ad hoc TV commiittee.

The cable must be RG-6 Quad Plenum flooded. Is there any such thing? A lot of lay people call for Plenum because they believe it to be the Cadillac of the industry, even though their circumstances often do not warrant it.

Here's an update. I just got an e-mail from the property saying that there was a mistake. It doesn't have to be flooded.

Actually, it should be flooded. The mistake was to have specified Plenum wire. And for that matter, they don't need quad, either. I've never used quad for antenna downleads before.

The obvious solution is to provide two quotes. The first being specifically for what they ask for, and the second for what you recommend they use (at an obviously lower cost).

Man oh man, where is this cable running, in the air ducts? I would run no more than RG11 max. Quad shield is a bit much, although doable. Plenum is only needed in about 5 percent of the jobs it is speced out on. Good luck with it
