Anyone know where I can score a cheap (like under $40) TV tuner card for my laptop I'm running an AMD Turion 64 x2 1.90GHz with 1918 megs of ram. The only input requirements I need is the ability to connect to a coax input, and a decent pic quality. I don't care about a remote or DVR options Basically all I'm wanting it for is to be able to setup/check receivers when I encounter a "I don't have all my tv's here yet, but we can carry this 32" around to check all the outlets", or the remote mount setups where you need a tv at the receiver to get it downloaded and the TV1 remote to UHF Pro

$40, not likely, Best bet is to find a used 5 Inch television at a pawn shop. We carry portable DVD players with built in tuners for the no TV issue although they run about 200
Just looking at the TV Tuner Cards at Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d3031 2d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%231l9~~cabcat05070 00%23%230%23%2345~~cabcat0507001%23%230%23%232q~~n cpcmcat139300050000%23%230%23%232&usc=abcat0500000&nrp=15&type=category&lcn=TV+Tuner+Cards&sp=%2Bcurrentprice+skuid&id=pcmcat139300050000), the cheapest is $82 ... best bet is eBay or finding a model you like and then scouring the web for that model ...

I can't vouch for how well they work, but...
2 different USB Plug-in tuners for $30

http://3btech.net/chusb20atdia.html (I do not trust 3btech since I tried to buy a video card from them they claimed to have in stock but after I ordered and they took my payment they e-mailed me that they didn't have it in stock and never would again. They returned my money [credit card] but now I am being spammed relentlessly by them.)
Here is an internal laptop card on sale for $30 (Claims regular price is $90)

Here is another one for $40

All these devices claim to have a built-in DVR (or at least come with DVR software and capability to burn to DVD.

Be sure the one you buy can receive ATSC Digital broadcasts. I have seen a couple of USB based units, which receive HD. I have not used any of them.
Remember Feb '09 you will need an ATSC Digital Tuner.

Not to get Dish or DirecTV's RF out, though. :) That's what he's getting it for. :)
