I would like to insert some "internal programming" in addition to the satellite channels, without needing to switch sources on the TV.

Can I use the OTA on either the H20 or new AM21 for modulated content other than broadcast? If so, what type of modulator?

Thanks.

Sorry, but no.

You would have to emulate a frequency that either tuner could tune to. They are preset by the guide data.

ATSC digital TV modulators are still very expensive. But even using one wouldn't help because the H20/HR20 and HR21/AM21 OTA tuners only receive channels based on DirecTV's Guide information. They don't "scan" for additional ATSC channels.

In theory such a thing could be done. Today, in practice, basically no.

You've hit upon one key--the modulator that would take a video input and produce an ATSC (digital) modulated output channel doesn't exist for the home market yet.

I'm certain someday there will be modulators for the home. But I don't have any insight as to when.

Cheers,
