Saving Recorded Content from HD DVR

I'm new to the satellite experience. Am set up with the HD package of Direct TV and combination HR21-100 DVR. Question is: Is it possible to save recorded contend for the HD in the DVR to a standard PC (XP or Vista Platform)? If so, How? Thanks - Mike

you can save SD content to a pc, but need a video (and audio) capture device to connect to the dvr and then transfer
HD is a no go, without expensive equipment

Another option is to use a DVD recorder as an intermediary between the DVR and the PC. SD-only, of course, as you note.
