I've had this problem for some time now and it has appeared on several boxes.

Scenario: I'm recording a program while watching another live. Any pause or ff/rw on the live tuner leaves 'video blotches', pixelation and other distortions on the recording. I've also noticed at times that this distortion will appear in the live recording at the point where I rw.

Any ideas? I've had this on most of the 20-700 units I've had. Rebooting wont clear up the distortion.

That sounds less like a tuner issue and more like a hard drive problem, i.e. it isn't able to keep up with all that is being demanded of it. Do these drives ever get (or need to be) defragmented? I know on my old UTV, leaving it on channel 1020 (a virtual channel that would be “tuned” to saved shows) and then putting it in standby would let it do some housekeeping. After 8-12 hours of that, the guide and other functions would be noticeably faster. I wonder if the HR2x has any similar feature or needs?

I agree its probably a HDD issue. I dont think the HR2x series has any type of housekeeping programs that it runs as even if you hit the power button all it does it tunr off the outputs and the disk is sitll spinning and recording.

Yeah, that's the same as what the UTV did; pressing power off just put it in standby, and that's when it would do its cleanup as long as it was left on channel 1020.
