I recently (as in the last week, just before the injunction was final) got a 942 as a replacement for my 921. I activated it and found the previous owner's locals still in the EPG in red. I called tech support to try and get these out of the "all chan" EPG. They could not get them out. No big deal, I'd just use the "all sub" list. The tech did offer to send another replacement, but I declined.

This morning I found a box from E* on my front porch. It was a 622!

I've read on another thread here that the "HD Enabling fee" still applies to customers in this situation (I don't have an HDTV yet). My question is, is the 6 months free HD promo still in effect? Does a replacement unit qualify for the free HD promo?

Unfortunatly the 6 months of free HD is no longer around and when you activate the 622 there will be a $7 HD enabling fee unless you subscribe to some HD prog for the new receivers, your best bet is to go w/ the HD essential pack if you decide to keep the 622, it osts $10 and you'll get 22 -26 HD channels depending on your programming package.

Are there any unique channels in the essential pack, or are they all the HD equivalents of the channels I already get with my Top-200 W/locals (DVR Advantage)?

HD Net and HD net movies, the rest have SD counterparts

They may have SD counterparts but they will have a better picture. That is why I got the 622 and HD package even before I got a HDTV. Plus I did spring for all the HD at that time for channels that were not in SD.

YMMV

I've been watching HD Theater on the "Test" channel quite a bit ever since it showed up on the 921 between the Muzak and Sirius music channels.

I guess this "test" channel took the place of the "demo" HD aquarium channel.

I presume the $10 HD pack also includes locals where available (they were just turned on for Cleveland on 61.5). What about RSN's?

Actually the $10 HD Essentials pack just includes the HD versions of whatever AT pack you subscribe to(plus HDNet & MHD). To get HD locals you have to subscribe to locals from Dish and the HD versions comes at no additional cost w/ the SD versions. As far as RSN's you have to subscribe to at least AT100+ to get them, once again no additional cost to getting the SD version of them.

I guess I'm good to go then since I sub to the Cleveland SD locals and Top-200 which includes 2 RSN's (FSN Ohio and STO). I even have the 61.5 dish that used to be for my Sky Angel lifetime subscription.

Are the HD versions of the Top-200 on 119 or 110, or do I have to get 129 for some of them? I know that the RSN's are currently on 129. I'm hoping they move them or mirror them on 61.5 since that is where the the HD Cleveland locals reside.

I'm not sure where all the individual HD channels reside (someone has a chart in EKB or something around here I believe), but some are on 110 and some are on 129/61.5 of course I think there's some issue in Cleveland with the RSN not being mirrored and only being on 129 I believe? Basically I do think you'll end up needing both a dish 1000 to get 129 and a 500 pointed at 61.5 (which you say you already have) to get everything in your DMA. Unless I missed something and they did get everything mirrored on 61.5 recently and if that's the case i'm sure one of the many smart people here will correct me! :D

The RSNs on 129, the locals on 61.5. You can get two of most HD channels!

Well, I finally hooked up the 622 last night. So far I'm really impressed. I purchased an API UPS/Power strip since I believe the poor quality of my A/C may be to blame for so many problems I have had over the last 3-1/2 years (I had 10 921's and 1 942).
