View Full Version : Recordings stop early
My 622 stops recording most shows 30 seconds to one minute too early. It looks like the time of day and the guide data is off. Is there any way to adjust the clock setting on the 622?
Compare the clock on the 622 with an atomic clock.

It is likely that the clock on the 622 is correct. Networks often start their shows a little late or early in order to cut down on channel surfing and/or to catch channels surfers. NBC is bad about this on Thursdays. CBS does this on Mondays. You can pad your recordings to compensate for this.

ABC always runs Desperate Housewives on Sunday night two or more minutes past the hour.

When you set up you recording select "options" in the timer screen, from there you can make some adjustments for your start and end time for the recordings.

I have problems when I record shows back-to-back on the same network. For example, on monday night I have 4 timers and record 4 sitcoms in a row. A couple seconds of the program between the shows is lost, i always miss some of the closing scene of Two and a Half Men... Any suggestions?

I do the same thing with my TiVo - heck, my father does the same thing with his VCR. You can tell it to record another minute or so late on the Two and a Half Men timer. To do so, go to your daily schedule -> timers -> Two and a Half Men -> options -> end late.
I quit watching shows that run late every day. I know the advertisers don't know that. It makes me feel better anyhow to know I am not getting the ads they are hoping for!
BTW: It takes a DVR that deals with compression a few seconds to build a buffer. If you have back to back recordings, there has to be a few seconds of one show sacraficed for the buffer reload.

Set up a single timer that covers all the programs. Or, extend the first program by 90 minutes, which will accomplish the same thing.

If the tuner has to change channels, I think it will ignore your End Late time.

Thanks Tulsa!
If the tuner has to change channels, I think it will ignore your End Late time.If you can get the channel OTA, you may be able to lessen the impact of this timing issue that is entirely the doing of the networks.
