View Full Version : Package Pricing
I am getting ready to subscribe to sat services and am trying to figure out what is not included in their pricing listed on-line. Things like DVR fees, and infrastructure recovery fees, etc... I got burned my cell when I signed up for a $50 a month plan and found an additional $15 in fees for taxes and such. Can anyone give me a good understanding of what the extras are? and possible ways to avoid them?
thanks
"infrastructure recovery fees" - don't give them new ideas!
I really dislike their online DishBUILDER configuration program, but it should give you the correct total price. It just won't tell you what receiver(s) you'll be getting.
DVR fee of $5.98 per DVR. Waived for all DVRs on account with AEP ("everything").
"Phone line fee" of $5 per month for any dual OUTPUT receiver. Waived with a connection to a phone line. Ethernet to Internet connection with a ViP DVR waives the fee as well.
Locals $5/month with ATxxx package.
HD Enable of $7/month on a ViP (MPEG4) receiver - waived with a subscription to $10 or $20 HD package.
Lease fee ($5 if SD, $7 if ViP) for each receiver after the 1st.
Some states tax sat service, some don't. Someone from TX would have to speak to that.
Investigate ClubDISH - it will save you $30 and if you can find a family member / friend with DISH, they get 10 $5 credits as well.
To get the 3 $40 credits, etc you have to commit to 24 months with $10/month charge for each month remaining if you terminate early.
DVR Advantage is a way to save $3.98 (AT100) or $5.98 (AT200/250) by combining ATxxx programming, Locals, and a SINGLE $5.98 DVR fee.
Upgrade fees for a 2nd HD DVR. Limit of 4 LEASED sat tuners in most cases (722, 612, & 612 is 6 sat tuners and a special case).
