This Just in...
While I do not have all the details, it appears that Dish Network is getting ready to roll out ESPN-HD Next month to its HD customers!
ESPN-HD will be transmitted in 8PSK format, meaning that owners of a Dish 6000 receiver will need to purchase a 8PSK module (if they don't already have one)
At the moment the module will cost you $99 however (we are hearing and this is NOT confirmed as of yet) that Dish Network will be running a special on the 8PSK module for $49 through April! Note Corrected Price
As soon as we have official word from Dish we will let you know when to call and order your module!
You heard it here FIRST at DBSTalk.COM!
Will the HDNet channels be coming at this time too Scott? Thanks for keeping us all up to date!

Not sure Jeff. We're waiting on word from our sources.
$39 for the 8psk module is a great deal! Especially if ESPN-HD ends up in one of the basic packages rather than in it's own package.

Hmmm - so what if you cancel Discovery HD, do you owe them anything for the 8PSK you got free? Would you now be limited to only $39 cost?

Scott - maybe i am wrong - but i thought they mentioned something at Retailer Chat about 49 dollars Special for the module (and not 39)
So you people might want to double check...

I just obtained a tape of todays chat. I will be watching it in a few minutes and will report back then. :)

I have watched the tape and indeed the price for the 8PSK Module is $49 not $39.00
Charlie and Jim said that "New Channels are coming" that will need the 8PSK module, and they also mentioned that all the NBA games in HD would require the 8PSK module.
I will update my first message of this thread to reflect the correct price.

Any news on the pricing/Package requirements for ESPN-HD. Also the HDNet stuff is what I'm really salivating for. Either way, 2003 is the year for HDTV!

No news yed on pricing / package requirements for ESPN-HD, I would expect it to be available in the everything and sports packs, and am hoping it's part of the Top 150 package.
Next months Charlie Chat is going to be an interesting one. :D

scott.do you know definitively which sat this will be on..i know you have said 110.but someone who seemed to know his stuff said wait.it ay be on 61.5 or mirrored for some time..this effects me because i may not be able to get a good shot at 110 without putting another dish on a tree or large pole..Northeast with trees creates a problem for 110 and 119 due to elevation in sky

Rang I am hoping to have a better answer for your question later today.
E* now has an HD Info channel, #9421 that shows info about the NBA games, Disc HD and the need for the 8psk module to view them and "all future new HD programming." The loop also mentions the $49 price until 4-30 and has a install demo. Kind of reminds me of the old Dish 500 loop. The channel is in NTSC and is viewable on my DP's so it looks like they are at least trying toget the message out to everyone.
The new HD Events Channel(9425) is assigned to the same transponders as Discovery HD Theater at 61.5 and 148.
NBA coming up March 4th there.

JohnH,
From TNGTony's list:
Discovery HD Theater (8PSK) DSCHD 9420 4 61.5
Discovery HD Theater (8PSK) DSCHD 9420 10 148
and:
HD Events HDEVT 9425 25 61.5
HD Events HDEVT 9425 ? 148
So according to that info - 9425 is not the same tp #s as 9420's Disc. HD Theater...
JohnH - can you verify that info please - what is going on there with Tp #s on 9420 and 9425?
And also - if you are capable - can you please provide the tp # for channel 9425 at 148? (Seems like TNGTony is looking for this tp # as well) - Maybe you can let TNGTony know about it as well ( if you have this info - in case he will miss it Here, if you find the info and post it here :) )
Thanks
Well, 9425 is obviously not on Tp 25 at 61.5 as that is a Sky Angel Tp. That should answer your query. :)
I was up pretty early this morning. :)

JohnH - hehe - yes i noticed it - about tp 25 :)
So is 9425 - Tp 4 (61.5) and Tp 10 (148) then? (as 9420 is)
And can confirm this personally? (Do you have 61.5 and 148 there -both of them?)
:-)

JohnH - TNGTony changed it all on his List :)
So i guess 9425 - IS tp 4 (61.5) and tp 10 (148) for sure then :)
I have 148, 129, 119, 110. 91 and 61.5. And a choice of many others in-between.
It is an educated guess. :)

hehe - i see - cool :)
hmm - an educated guess - i see - even though i often like 100 % actual confirmations :)
I guess you live in Alabama and South Florida this week. Or were those educated guesses?
Any one of those channels could be an info card.
