Sharks/Stars Game 5 - In HD?

The DTV guide only shows the game on 603 at 7 pm tonight. Can anyone confirm that DTV hasn't updated the guide for VS HD on 604 and that we'll actually see the game in HD??

However, VS/Golf HD on DirecTV has been carrying the hockey this postseason -- even if the guide doesn't always reflect it. So it is a reasonable question.

No need to answer someones legitimate question like that----maybe if you did a little research, maybe you would know that the guide has often been wrong reguarding NHL playoff games---including last nights Ranger game

I'm in the DFW Metroplex and the only listing for tonight's game is on 603, not even our local FSN channel. Sometimes the STARS play on our local channel 27/My Network TV, maybe it's a mistake on their end. As it states right now there are lame sitcoms(repeats) being shown. I can only hope that I get to see this game in HD. :rolleyes:

I'd much rather the Wings play in the Eastern Conference. 10pm starts are just brutal when I have to be up at 6am.

But East/West isn't the issue. It's the absurdity of showing pre-recorded Golf in HD rather than play off Hockey. But since Comcast owns VS. it's not too much of a surprise that it's screwed up. If this happens in the coming rounds I will be very disappointed.

The thing that bothers me is that in every playoff game on Versus this season, the announcers have stated:

"Tonights game is presented in HD - as they ALL are on Versus."

Heard it in almost every game.

Sounds like false advertising and a lawsuit to me - against Vs. not D*.

The NHL Website, hdsportsguide.com, and kukla's korner all list tonight's game in HD. They have been far more reliable than the Dtv guide. As for the Versus website....good luck trying to find an HD schedule on that!

Got a very nice call center girl, not employed by VS, who said they are getting slaughtered with calls.
She said Golf is on the shared 604 channel schedule given to them today . Prior Thursday and Friday nights during the playoffs, it's been NHL on their daily schedule.

First off...The Refs don't make the calls in the replay booth - that's Toronto. Secondly, the refs let Dallas get away with several plays that should have been called penalties. A trip in front of the referee in the third. Turco's takedown of Michalek after Milan went hard into the net. They missed a few for San Jose too, but I think the "non calls" weighed in favor of the Stars this evening.

And, FWIW, Toronto isn't going to allow the puck off the skate to count, it appears. There was a goal disallowed in the first round Ducks/Stars series that could have been a mirror image of tonights goal, and it was also disallowed.

There's also a second rule that may have come into play. IF the goalie makes the initial save, and then is run into, and the puck ends up in the net, it's not a goal. That came up in last night's Penguins game on the Malkin breakaway. The review was to determine if the initial save had been made on Malkins shot, since the puck clearly ended up in the net after the contact with Lundquist.

And the second goal waved off for Morrow was a no brainer. He took his hand completely off the stick to glove it. He didn't mean to glove it into the net, but he never got it with his stick before it went in.

A friend and I were watching the game and we both agreed that the first one probably should have been a goal. Toronto, though, apparently has a different take on the rule this postseason and if the foot is going towards the net, they're going to rule it no good.

This is true, it is not a D* issue. When they showed the games in HD from the last round instead of Masters highlights, it was exactly the same on Comcast as on D*. Comcast however, didn't do the "overflow" channel in case of OT, AFAIK.

You're probably right, but D* has such a poor record in this type of thing that the reflex response is to blame them. The NHL should provide a "hot line" tech person to D* and VS to make sure this stuff doesn't happen.
