Not a filler episode in my opinion... The ex-chief had a Pvt Pyle from Full Metal Jacket thing going on for awhile ;)

Yup I thought he was going to do it.I still think this cult story line is unnecessary.
I think it is getting away from the main story line.It is almost soap opera like.
Overall I still think it was a good epispde.

I don't care for the Baltar cult story either, but I have to have faith that it will pay off in the end.

No Six, Lee, Roslyn or Bill Adama in this episode. :(

Anyone think Leoben was sincere in seeking an alliance and wasn't trying to lure them into a trap?

I dont know whats up with Leoben, but I find it interesting that he was asking for Kara to hit him in a similar manner as six in the previous episode. Whats up with the masochistic cylons?

Just reflecting on the SciFi "game' where they want us to "choose a side" - are we to assume that there will be a valid choice coming soon?

And whats up with Kara saying early in the episode that she heard the song? Hmmm...

I think that Leobens are incapable of being straightforward. The purpose of the model is to be duplicitous, in other words to put forth one agenda that may seem palatable, all the while advancing another agenda that coincidentally follows the same path.

He may be trying to help Kara. He may in fact really love Kara. However this model isn't capable of having only one agenda. He will always be true to his other programming, which has in the past including spreading fear and doubt, and furthering the survival of the Cylon race.

I thought this was a good story, and while I don't personally find the Baltar subplot entertaining, it was well done. At some point he will have to fall from that pedestal and that will be very fun.

Anybody knows how many episodes are left?

Right now is like a Desperate Housewifes in space. Lots of intrigue but really not advancing the story anything much. We got it, Kara has a destiny... What is it??

The whole Baltar story has been a drag from episode one. It got better when they went to New Caprica and when he was with the Cylons. Now it has gotten worse and kind of aimless. If they make him the last model I would have to hiss and boo. I guess, that's the problem of writing things as they go.

Hopefully as they get closer to the end things speed up and get resolved. I'm hoping for a Babylon 5 type ending instead of a Sopranos one.

My guess would be about 15 episodes left. I think that we'll see a major dramatic turn in the next three weeks as May sweeps hit, then some more dragging, leading to the end of the show either in November or February. Yes this is the last season but there has been some talk that they will split it up.

Don't discount the Baltar cult story as it is likely critical to a final understanding of the Kara story. From Battlestar Wiki (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/The_Road_Less_Traveled):

The title is derived from the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The common interpretation is that one may be rewarded greatly by choosing a more difficult path than the one used by the crowd. The phrase may also have had a religious meaning for Frost, alluding to Matthew 7,12-14, which mentions a broad gate leading to destruction and a narrow gate leading to salvation.I could be wrong, but I think the allegorical nature of the storyline at the end will leave us with many layers of possible interpretation about the human condition and what is termed "salvation" in many of mankind's most violently aggressive religions.
No Six, Lee, Roslyn or Bill Adama in this episode. :(
Good catch! Battlestar Wiki noted: Neither William Adama nor Laura Roslin appear in this episode. In both cases, this is unprecendented.

Oh I'm not discounting it in the least. I think it will be absolutely pivotal, and it is a very interesting demonstration of how cults form. Personally, I'm just not super entertained by the way it's going.

I agree. I am liking this show less and less.

Personally, I'm just not super entertained by the way it's going.I am more than a little puzzled about entertainment factor. If I were to fault the writers it would be that they have two threads with little movement from episode to episode. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to draw out Kara's angst and crew conflict without actual action in that thread while in the other thread Baltar pontificates in scene after scene. Hopefully, we are at the end of these two threads being the only elements offered.

I think the treads merge when Kara meets the hybrid.

This show gets to be more like Days Of Our Lives with each episode.

I'm tired of the soap opera and cult garbage. Give us our BSG back!

I couldn't agree more! All of this "sub-plot" stuff is getting boring. At the rate the show is going, many viewers (maybe even me) will be bypassing episodes until they have more substance...

I only semi watched the first 10 minutes. I was busy doing other stuff and figured I watch the first 10 from the recording after it's over. I never did watch the first 10 minutes. From the rest of the episode, it appears I didn't miss much.

As a side note, maybe others have mentioned it before, but, what's with Mary MacDonnell doing the botox deal with her upper lip??? It's really noticable.... Very much so in HD

Other than the beauitful women Baltar is surrounded by,I couldn't care less about this cult like thing he has going.I sure hope it's got something to do with finding Earth.I can see NO other use for it ?

Yeah, you didn't miss much...

At the rate BSG is going I won't be around for the series finale to find out how it all ends. I'll be happy just to hear from someone who did waste their time watching it.

I find all of this very similar to Babylon 5's Byron/Telepath plotline. Lyta is alienated from her "friends" and falls in with the cult of teeps -- Cheif is alienated from everything he knows, and is drifting toward the cult of Baltar...

As we know, none of the names in Galactica is an accident.

Add to that the name Conroy, Leoben's last name. "Roy" was a name supposedly used for Napoleon in Nostradamus, and "con" could easily mean "against". Not sure what that means though.
