I just upgraded to HD three days ago and they gave me a 612. I set up the OTA channels and I have a good signal on all of them. However, it randomly loses access to all OTA channels, and reports zero signal strength. If I redo the channel scan without rebooting, it cannot find any channels. If I do a complete power down and reboot, though, all of them return at full strength; no rescan is necessary. This has happened three times already in less than three full days.
I expect that this is just a bad unit, yes? I am also wondering if the 612 is generally troublesome and if an upgrade to a 722 might give me better reliability.

Actually, I was wondering if my particular unit is probably bad, not the whole product line. If the problem I am seeing is widespread and known to be a software bug, then getting a replacement unit would be a waste of time. I guess I'll just call it in and see what they say about it.

I never called this one in because I noticed that the receiver felt excessively warm. My DVD player had gotten pushed tight against the right side of the 612, blocking the air intake. Once airflow was restored and the unit cooled down there have been no further problems.
