I live in Chicago and use an HR20-100 HD-DVR. Over the past few weeks I have been experiencing frequent (every couple of minutes) sound dropouts (preceded by a zapping noise) when watch my local NBC station in HD. I have tried a red button reset and my signal strength is in the mid 90's on all my transponders. I haven't experienced this on any other channel or when watching dvd's, so I don't think it's my sound system. Could it be my dvr? I know NBC has always been the worst of the local HD stations in Chicago in terms of picture quality (at least in my opinion), but this is proving to be a big distraction anytime I watch a show on that station. If anyone is experiencing the same problem or has any suggestions, Iwould appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I get the same thing, every now and then. But it's not limited to the HR20 or HR 21. It happens on my H20 receivers as well. If it gets too annoying, I'll switch to OTA feed, or to another station.

If it is happening OTA and on the DirecTV feeds, then it is probably network. Used to happen all the time when I had cable.

I suspect the networks encoding or transmitting of their feeds still has a few hiccups in it. I don't believe these issues are a DirecTV problem.
