View Full Version : Suggestion: Figure out a better grouping for the sticky posts in the CE forum

There are 20 sticky threads in there now, and 3 announcements. Some of the threads have been up for weeks with very few posts.
If there's a similar pattern every week, maybe because there are few people here that have those boxes, you should consider combining a few of the receivers into one thread instead of starting a new sticky for each one.

Until the versions go nationally... their issues threads will remain as stickies.
Each "box" gets it's individual thread... as it is an individual binary to that box... and the issues need to be tracked individually.
A new sticky is only created, when there is a new binary/version for a particular unit.

If there's a history of nobody posting in them, why? If anyone wants to track issues in them, bundling them into one thread only makes that process easier.
(I'm not saying there IS a history...I'm just going by the current stats, which show a ton of dead threads that've been stickied)

Because that is the arrangement we have setup for the CE...
Until it goes national... the issue thread stays stuck..
Incase one of the people that have downloaded it... has an issue... they don't have to go searching for pages and pages to find the thread.
It also helps DirecTV monitor the activity of those threads, without having to keep a master list of each one each week... or go hunting for them themselves.
And again... "bundling" them... violates our rule of having to track issues by box, by build. They are individual builds... and the issues needs to be tracked individually.
Looking at the CE stuck threads... all of them have been posted to in the last 4 weeks... which ones are exactly "dead".. (Except for the rule thread, which no one can post to)

Just goto page 2 of the forum bro.
No sense bucking the system on this one.
Get over it.
After 10 years of administrating numerous forums, and learning for a fact that most people literally refuse to goto page 2 of any subforum (unless they are specifically looking for something in particular), to this day I STILL don't understand why.
Believe me OverThereTooMuch, I'm NOT knocking YOU.
Your just like the majority of users on internet forums.
I'm knocking the majority.
Page 2 is just an extra click away.
Use it.
