I have received word that Mary Davidson the head of Dish Network Retails services is leaving the company on Friday to take some time off and pursue other opportunities.
For those who know Mary they know she eat, sleeps and breathes Dish Network.
Mary herself joked that her 11 year old daughter wants to take her to her 5th grade "show and tell" to prove to everyone she really has a mom.
On behalf of the entire DBSTalk staff I would like to wish Mary well in her future endeavors.

It must be tough leaving after being so entrenched in a company. Good luck to her. I hope she wasn't one of your "good reliable" sources. Then she will surely be sorely missed around here too.
Mrs. Davidson did a great job to get Dish Network and it`s original dealers off the ground in the early days.
They will have a time replacing her with a similarly qualified and dedicated person.
On another note though, she has a flat gazillion shares of Echostar stock that were issued to her over the years and even at the current price of $26.00 + per share, she is quite a wealthy lady.
Funny thing I noticed all of these years, DeFranco, Ergen, Davidson, Mark Lumpkin and other Echostar Execs use to mingle very well with the basic small to poor satellite retailer over the years. They did a grand job of silencing the fact they were/are millionaires.
I am quite sure Ergen coached them on that aspect of their business ;)

Why is she leaving now after being with them for so long? Why would she want to pursue other opportunities when she has such a high position in this company? Is there perhaps certain reasons that she is leaving?
She has helped out a lot of retailers and other people since she had been with Dish and got very involved with her work. A lot of people including myself appreciate everything she has done over the years.

It might be safe to say she wishes to enjoy her child's childhood. Ever hear the Cats in the Cradle song? She has to be financially set for life, now it's time to enjoy life some.
By Hary Chapin
A child arrived just the other day,
He came to the world in the usual way.
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew,
He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."
My son turned ten just the other day.
He said, "Thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play.
Can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today,
I got a lot to do." He said, "That's ok."
And he walked away, but his smile never dimmed,
Said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."
Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
"Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head, and he said with a smile,
"What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then."
I've long since retired and my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind."
He said, "I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu,
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad.
It's been sure nice talking to you."
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then."
