is anybody seeing any problems with transponder 2 101, since the ka band was turned on?

Over the years, I've had lots of occasional, inexplicable problems with 101 transponder 2. It often develops a "signal strength %" that is lower than the other satellites and inconsistent with its actual strength in dBm. I have speculated that at least sometimes, DirecTV may have, for whatever reason, used less forward error correction on that transponder. It is also possible that, at about 980 MHz center frequency, there is a highpass filter that roughs it up a little bit. Or even a lowpass filter, since I think that the 101 evens might be "inverted" in that system, and so it's stacked frequency might be up around 2,100 MHz or higher.

MFH1 doesn't incorporate the Ka transponders. Can you put tinfoil over the 99 and 103 ports and see if the problem goes away?

I thought the 99 and 103 enter through the 101 feed on the ka/ku dish. My thought is my 30" inch ku 101 is "seeing " a nearby out of band source of noise. only transponder 2 is being effected, changing the LNB three times, adjust dish, los is perfect, same results. Thanks mike, I forgot about it being inverted....of course, I'm talking about the signal before the MFH1 stacker, I mentioned MFH1 to get some expert advice.... I'm setting up a ka/ku tomorrow. I have to go ka/ku cause they are going mfh2, right now, I have three 30" er's on 101,119,110.

mike, are you saying just because it's lower in % on the rx meter, I should not worry??

Ain't no use worryin' 'bout stuff you got no control over, 'cause if you got no control, ain't no use worryin'.

so you know about this? It has been going on for a while, does DTV admit this is happening? I see the problem amplified in my MFH1 system. I can it on my home system right now...

I had to pad down the odd 101 input, it was running over the evens, Ive seen this before...it's cool now.
