There is a new On Screen Display error message on the HR2x series DVRs that you might encounter. The new message appears when a game is blacked out, and tells you that the unit is seaching for the game on another channel.
Cool

It works great if the game is on another channel not blacked out you can go directly to the new channel.

As other have stated, its a new feature. Not an error message.
It basicly reads/sees the blackout info and searches the other channels available to you and tries to find the game on one of those channels.

It's not all that new. It's been available on my HR20-700 since mid March.
Does it auto switch to the channel if it finds one? To take a step further, would it auto-record the other channel if I scheduled a recording and it ended up being blacked out, but it found a replacement channel?

if you are tuning the channel yourself, it asks you if you want to change to that channel.
If it was a recording setup, yes, it will automatically stop and delete the recording of the game on the channel that is blacked out, and then tune to the channel that you can receive the game on, and then it will begin recording the game on that channel. You will loose approximately the first minute of the program... oh well!!!! :D

This doesn't work for me...
Is this an auto record feature only? Will this work with a single recording?
I still get either a black screen or a Searching for Authorized Content message.

It works if you tune the channel. It's a great feature, but like others have said, not "new" since I've used it for a few months.
The cool thing is if you tune to an HD broadcast and it's blacked out, when it searches, if it finds an SD only, it'll even warn you when asking if you want to tune to it that it is only SD. It knows we are HD snobs :)

Dosn't always work correctly. It searched for another channel the other night and said sorry not available on any channels. When in fact it was available on my local Rsn HD feed.
As with many things in the Hr2X series, the idea is good, but the programming of it is buggy. For example, tonight, the Indians game is blacked out on ESPNHD because the game is available on Sportstime Ohio. The message indiates the game is available on another channel, but not in HD. I(t directs you to the non HD Sportstime channel. However, the HD version IS carrying the game and IS available.

no worries guys... it's still a work in progress i'm sure... nevertheless, a very cool feature to have...
It is cool...but a little strange too. I tested it out the other night and it found my game on a channel in the 7000's. Of course, the game was available on my RSN, 651-1, so I'm not sure why it went up there. Either way, it worked.

In my experience with it, if it is searching for an available channel and I hit guide to look for it myself (I dont always want to wait a minute or so when I think I can find it faster) It will never find the game if I dont tune to it myself and another feed is available.
Just my experience though.

It knows we are HD snobs :)Apparently it's not all that smart. I had a local game blacked out on TBSHD, and it told me it found the game in SD on 649. OK, fine, but it was also in HD on 649-1, and it never offered to even tell me about that. Ironically, it coaxed me away from the HD broadcast in favor of the SD broadcast, so it must either think I am not an HD snob, that I don't have an HD set anyway, or that I am in reality an SD snob. Or maybe it's that it is just too version 1.0 to be able to figure this out on its own. I'm betting on that one.
