The following was sent to me this morning, and figured I would pass it on to everyone.

Here is your programming update from your friends at Dish Network! Enjoy!

LOCALS UPDATE (Remember: a DISH 500 system is required to activate locals)

• Monterey/Salinas, CA: As of February 20, 2003, we added Monterey/Salinas to our locals’ lineup for $5.99 a month with a $1.00 credit until ABC is included. We are looking at the ability to provide the ABC affiliate from a neighboring market. • Lexington, KY: As of February 20, 2003, Lexington was added to our locals lineup. We launched Lexington with all major networks ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. The service is available for $5.99 a month as all major stations are carried.
• Tucson, AZ, and Colorado Springs, CO: On February 20, 2003, we added the NBC affiliate in Tucson and NBC and CBS in the Colorado Springs locals’ lineup. These local channels are available for $5.99 a month as all major stations are carried.
• Individual stations are not sold a la carte and Tucson, Colorado Springs, Lexington, and Monterey/Salinas locals are not available as Distant Networks.
• Omaha, NE: Also on February 20, 2003, the NBC station was added to the locals lineup. Until the FOX station is added, the package will be billed at $5.99 a month with a $1.00 credit.

PROGRAMMING

• NBA in HD on DISH Network! We’re proud to offer the following NBA game on DISH Network in HD: Minnesota Timberwolves at Seattle Supersonics on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, 10:00 p.m. ET! It is available in free access to HD Customers with the Model 6000 and Enhanced HD Adapter on channel 9425, 61.5 and 148. Please note that blackout restrictions apply and the game is subject to change.
• To get all customers on board with HD on DISH Network, we’re offering the Enhanced HD Adapter for $49 through April 30, 2003. Customers with a Model 5000 receiver or those with a Model 6000 without the Enhanced HD Adapter will not be able to receive the NBA in HD programming without first upgrading to a Model 6000 with the Enhanced HD Adapter. Current DISH Network Model 6000 HD receiver customers may already have the Adapter (they will see “8PSK” in the “Model ID” line on their System Information Screen). Existing customers will need to upgrade so that they can watch NBA games, Discovery HD Theater and all future HDTV programming on DISH Network. We started shipping the Model 6000U (which includes the Enhanced HD Adapter) a few months ago, so recent customers should already have the correct hardware.

The mailings are meant for the dealers, I remove all the dealer information and pass along the stuff that's ok for public viewing. :)

BTW remember to support your local dealer. If you need the name of a good local dealer check out http://www.dumpcable.com :D

countries such as Central and South America

I like movies from Countries such as the Mediteranian and New England. At least New England has a football team.

How about adding some English language European based channels besides BBC World. I know that the Netherlands had one. I'm sure there are others. I don't know if I would pay $10-20 a channel for it, but it would be interesting to have.

Considering cable systems in that area get KGO for ABC, I'd imagine they would just add that.

Scott, why no official annoucement of Dallas distant nets going away. Obvious as of today on E*'s web site, but no letters, click here for important information, or anything on the subject. I have also exchanged email on the subject to Brian Hocker (NBC, KXAS). He claims that all Dallas Nets are helpless on this subject. It is not their choice to loose Ku distant net status. I have also sent several email's to Soroya's office this week and not one has been acknowledged even with a form letter.

I also asked Soroya's office about the discontinue of the 6000 and availability of the 221. Acknowledgement. "The 6000 has been discontinued and the availability of this model is limited to availability of your local retailers existing stock. There is no scheduled ship date for the 221 and we do not expect it to ship until sometime next year. We are excited about the pending release of the 921, please contact your retailer for additional information". Closing. "We value you as a yada yada yada.".

I believe Scott was passing on info offered to him.
No need to kill the messenger.

Scott is well informed past just what he is passing along. It's only a question, but thanks for implying that I am trying to shoot the messenger. Cheyenne, since you are relatively still new, Scott is extremely well informed and respected in DBS. I feel Scott is an old friend, we have been on the two major forums seems forever. Please do not make issues out of simple questions nor do I hide my identity or email address.

Nah I dont think anyone was trying to kill me, actually there WAS a message posted a few weeks ago telling members that Dallas was going away as a distant local choice.

I just pass along what I am given. :)

Geez....
I too have been around for some time, you just didn't know it.
I recall Scott and I meet at a Team Summit a while back.
Thanks for the info in this thread Scott, it is of great service.
I choose to not reveal my identity due to reasons beyond my control as with many others that visit here.
Nothing personal...

Nope I have never been to a team summit, or any Echostar function. I am trying to put together a user meet later this year at ESPN or something, I dont think I have met anyone from thr board yet. :)

Cheyenne, do you work for E*? Most in Cheyenne either work for E*, Secure Card, Qwest, or Corral West. Nice new Home Depot we have. I own two rentals. One on Snyder the other on Maxwell, had to replace a dishwasher and garbage disposal. Of course it would help if tenants would quit dropping bottle openers in either. :)

Scott, could of sworn I seen your mug somewhere before.
Contact Mark at ESPN, CT. He is an editor there and may be able to help you out with the meeting. Tell him Cheyenne says hi.

Marcus, you one of those west side slum lords ...ehh? (joke)
I just closed (sold) my Cheyenne home this last Friday.
No longer in Cheyenne, but go up there to do business now and then. Hoping to get 30-40 acres near snowy range this summer.
Take a ride down Campstool and you will see that the companies you had mentioned are no longer major employers in Cheyenne.
Lowe's just built that 1 mil+ sq. ft. distibution center there.
Apparently Lowe's is moving west to give Home Depot run for the money.

There you go changing the thread topic again!

You will like Centenial. Great steak house. My uncle has worked for V-Bar for over 30 years. Not really off subject, just informative, nor did you answer the question. You would be eligible for C-Band.
