Is phone line required for install/service?

I am looking to get a new E* install, is a phone line required for the initial install? Is it required for ongoing service? I ask because I recently canceled by home phone service and I am now only using my cell phone.

If you will search you will find many may threas stating that while there is a requirement in the residentaila greement to be connected to a phone line many people do not do it.

i've always wondered if this means that if i order pay per view..that i wont ever be billed for it if there is never a phone line connected

At some point it will not let you order any more PPV's

If you do not have a phone line connected, then the little camera in your STB will not be able to xmit images back to the home office. So be sure to hook it up.
