I know there are units that combo the sat signal (I have Dish with a SW 64 switch) and regular OTA signals so you can use one down lead then re-split them with the combo signal with a second combo unit at receiver.

A- Does anyone know if this arrangement would affect the Dish HD signal

B- Does any one know if it is possible to use the combo units to send an RF signals together with the sat signal. What I want to do is use the 1st combo unit to send an RF signal back from the receiver to the main cable juction box (all cables run thru this juction box) and then using a 2nd combo unit split off the RF and send the RF signal to other rooms. This would require using the the same cable that is the currently the down lead bringing the sat signal to the receiver for a second purpose. All existing cables are RG - 6 and were built into the walls of the house.  I am trying not to have to install more wires. This might not be possible, if some one knows please advise.

Thank you:shrug:

The piece you want is a diplexer. The satellite signal is fed in one side and the over the air signal is fed in on the other leg one cable carries the combined signal to the receiver location. A second diplexer is used to separate the signals out back to satellite and TV antenna. As far as the B. part of your question goes what do you have for receivers and how many? I am assuming you are asking about High Definition when you use HD in A. The DISH 6000 High Definition receiver does not have a RF output so
i am not sure what you want to send to the distribution system.

Thank you boba.
I do in fact have 2 - 6000u receivers runing HD sets and a 301 receiver connected to a tivo. I could use the RF from the 301 or the RF from the TiVo to send the RF signal back to the main juction box IF the diplexer will allow one RG 6 cable line handle an RF signal and the sat signal at the same time. The purpose is to get an RF signal to the TVs (non HD) in the rooms without receivers but without having to run new wires. I know the RF connected tvs will only be able to see whatever program the receiver is tuned to but that is a fact of life I can live with.
To be honest my wife does not want to look at more wires and after 40 years I need to keep her happy too.
Thank you again.

I use an RF modulator to take my 6000s video output and ran a cable back to the entrance of my old cable system and feed it back in so I get the RF through out the house.

Thank you Mike.

As you can see from my first post my problem is trying to use existing wiring. Unfortunately being a two year old house I only have the one cable outlet in each room that the builder provided in the walls.

My wife is on my case about running wires outside the walls so I am just looking for options to use the existing wires somehow such as using the deplexer.

Guys & Gals my wife is smaller than me, but she has other ways to win her battles so I can not be adding new external wires.

If the deplexer idea does or can not work any other suggestions on how to run two signals on the same cable at the same time are more than welcomed.

You can use diplexers for combining OTA/cable with DBS satellite & splitting out again or for backfeeding other TV's with the RF output from the IRD. But you can't do both at the same time on the same wire.

Here's how you do the backfeed:

I ran my cable back under the house via a crawl space, but if you have single story maybe you could fish the cable through the wall to the attic then back. You should be able to use the Diplexer to feed it back out to where your sat dishes are and then split it back out. You really shoudl use filters to keep the signals from going to your antenna and being re-broadcast out your antenna. I use channels 65 and 67 UHF and use a low pass filter to block them from going out to the antenna.

Thank you everyone - my wife thanks you as well.
HTGuy thank you for the drawing.
I hope I can help some one someday as you have me today.
