It's late tonight, wind is blowing 35/40 mph here in Atlanta..tree went down earlier this evening, TV working fine..after power outage (TV was on, D*TV up and running when power glitched), D*TV reset itself, but I now have no audio..I checked all my settings, cables, speakers, etc. (they work with the stereo and DVD player) but nothing with TV..not on HD or standard..only question is whether or not the lack of audio could be a D*TV hr1 issue..I don't think it is, but jsut need to ask..
am hooked up to a MArantz surround sound system, Samsung plasma using HDMI interface for the TV..
any comments would be welcome tomorrow..wo't read them until early tomorrow morning if any..
Thanks in advance..

Two quick answers:
1 - Buy a UPS battery backup for your Receiver. Power spikes and drop-outs are very bad for electronics. If you're lucky and they're not fried then they can sure come out of it confused.
2 - Reset the Receiver yourself by pressing the reset button next to the credit card-looking thing. On most receivers I think it's red (which is why you see the acronym RBR (Red Button Reset) used around here).
Then report back with results or additional info on your setup.

Steve,
I did a RBR..it did not do anything related to the audio..
I do have a surge protector setup, just not a UPS on the system..everything works fine, except for the audio from the TV..weird..
I have HDMI going from the HR21 to the TV..it's working fine, and the only other thing I could imagine it might be is that I do have the digital connection cable between the HR21 and the Marantz and maybe the cable was affected somehow..
(the cable is the one with the real small little connector on the end)..outside of that, I have no idea other than I will try the TV settings on the MArantz again..could be I am overlooking something, but very odd that it worked fine before the power outage and then not afterwards (and settings on Marantz for the TV are the same after as before the power off)..
Anyway, I'll check some more this pm..
thanks for the reply..

Check to see if the optical cable came loose. They can, easily. Also make sure your Marantz came back to Auto Digital when it cycled. It should but if your HT receiver is in the analog mode, you won't get sound.

You didn't mention if you checked the Marantz on any other sources. Is it possible that it croaked in the power surge (hopefully not). Some of them also have breakers/fuses on the output sections that you may need to check.

Thanks for the info..I went into the system and sure enough the audio had switched to analog..once it was reset to the digital input, sound works..I really do appreciate the help..

I'm glad that worked, HDTAXMAN.
Since I just happened to get the answer right, what do I win? My own personal VOD download?
