Was told by Directv this morning that i can use my old H10-200 to recevie the SD only . Is that true?

Once all Hd is converted to MPEG 4 later this year, yes your H10 will continue to recieve SD programming just fine.

However Directv is upgrading customers legacy HD equipment for free, with the caveat that you have to give them your old box in exchange for the new one.

Sounds like a good deal to me, especially if they give you an H21. It's easily the best non-DVR receiver in the line.

Ive been using a H20-100 as an SD receiver since my RCA receiver died in Dec. I requested a H20 since the lesser models didn't have the component outputs the RCA did. The only problem was convincing DTV billing that I didn't want the HD channels and didn't want to pay for them (only have an SD TV). After about 4 calls they got the message.
