622 with External HD

If my 622 fails, will I be able to hook up my external HD to a new 622? To a new 722?

Or are my saved recordings on my External HD gone forever?

I'd hate to lose my 6 Star Wars in HD I've saved.

With the household key now implemented, you should be able to swap your EHD between any supported receivers on your Dish account. So, when you get a new receiver it should receive the same household key as the old one and everything should work fine.

To be on the safe side, check your Household Key before you install your EHD on your new receiver. Check the key on the old one as well to be sure they are the same. If they are, there should be no problem.

I have two 622s. One was just replaced (Unsolicited spontaneous reboot syndrome). When the new receiver woke up, it had the same household key as my existing 622.
