I am about to switch from direct tv to dish.
I am planning to get a 508 and 301 now and in about 2 years get a dual tuner HD PVR unit when I finish the basement.
Should I wait to get a 522? Any new info when they will be available?
Should I upgrade to a dish pro quad lnb now at ~$65 or just get it with the standard that comes with the combeo?
Should I ask Dish Network for the second dish now or wait till I have 3+ receivers (1 1/2 to 2 years) so all the switches come with it?
What is the general consensus on this
Thanks in advance

It depends. Why are you dropping DirecTV?
The 508 is a good PVR unit, but is single tuner and timer based. The 721 has a dual-tuner, but costs $500, while DirecTV's HDVR2 is like $249 and has dual tuners.
With all due respects to the EchoStar lurkers, the 522 (and for that matter, the 921) should be considered vaporware. Dish Network has a history of slipped deadlines for new units. If the delay results in a more stable unit, then so be it.
If you do go with Dish, and the locals require a second Dish, then get the free second dish. The additional program offerrings would be worth it. At this time, the HD content is on both 61.5 and 148 (although there are plans on offerring content from the 110 bird. See the HDNet stickies).

Dish is cheaper for what I want. I want just basic america's 50 which gets me a couple of channels that not in basic direct tv plan (Food channel, comedy central, etc) I have the old select choice plan from Direct tv.
If I get the free second dish does it come with all the switches I need and will I need more switches when I expand to 4 tuners (e receivers) Or should I wait to get the free second dish?
Should I also get the quad lnb right away at a discount?
Thanks
The 522 should be shown to dealers at TEAM SUMMIT the first week of May so the earliest I would expect it would be June and that would with questionable software. A new DISH system should come with a DISH PRO Twin. You can add a DP-34 switch to that to give 4 outputs and you can also add a third sarellite to the DP=34. If you want buy the Quad but you won't need it.

I would wait, or at least get a 301 and then get the 522 later (or get the 2 301's free deal).
