Wow! The only thing left is to continue hoping for more OTA broadcasts. CCSN Philly is on the air with the Braves. We've already seen Rogers and Cox 4. Those were the channels SatRacer talked about as coming this year.

And their broadcast is better than Sports South broadcast of the same game. Sports South broadcast was pixelatated and had a lot of motion blur. CSN Philly PQ is much better.

Who would have thought this only a few years ago ?? So I guess they (CSN) is less shy about their signal being shown by their competition ?

I don't think they mind at all, so long as customers in the local Philly market can only see the games via cable.

When they allow DirecTV to provide the channel in the local market, that's when the temperature in hell will have dropped dramatically.

Exactly. They are getting their programming to a bigger audience this way. They totally win on this.

I agree... the HD picture is pretty good... much better than Sports South. But Sports South is still much better that SD.

It's certainly a shame for the folks in Philly. There must have been some agreement that the loophole that currently exists stays intact if DirecTV uses the signal for national broadcasts. Gotta say...the HD baseball is something cable won't be able to do for quite some time. DirecTV should make that part of their HD argument.

What's really funny is I had a long conversation with a rep from CSN Philly last season and the official postion last year was it was technically impossible for the CSN Philly feed to get DBS providers. Guess they figured that part out....lol!

Is Directv carrying the actual CSN Philly station or is it just their backhaul? If it is just their backhaul, then that doesn't mean DBS providers would even have access to the full 24 hour channel with commercials. (CSN Philly has at least in the past used satellite backhauls for live games.) You can tell if it's the backhaul if the game is commercial-free or if all the commercials are inserted by Directv. I'm asking because I don't have MLBEI but seem to remember that only CSN Philly backhauls have been used in the past.

The MLB EI feed of CSN Philly includes their commercials, so it's not simply backhauls.

Yeah, I live near Philly and, while not a Phillies fan, it is good to finally get the CSN Philly HD games on D*.

I haven't seen a backhaul on EI in many years. There may be some but I haven't stumbled on them.
