Does anyone know if extra innings will carry TSN,RDS,Chanel4 and Comcast Philly games this year. I know that it was confirmed there will be no ota games. Will Dish Network get EI? I know Directv has exclusive rights but can Charlie still get the package?

As far as EI carrying the above network feeds of games.......the answer is No.....Now as far as Charlie getting his grubby hands on it......That answer is also No....its Directv Exclusive still....

Right now, no one knows for sure what will be in the package or whether Dish gets EI. There is supposed to be exclusivity for DTV on EI for one more year, but that was supposed to be the same for NHL CI, and Dish was able to offer it. So, keep your fingers crossed but don't hold your breath.

I thought DTV only had the exclusive rights for NFL Sunday Ticket, and that all of the other sports were free game. Unless it is just a Sat exclusive, because In Demand has MLB EI

I called Dish after they announced thay had the NHL CI. I asked if they were going to get the NBA LP. The CSR read a statement that they were unable to carry the package this year, but a couple of weeks later it was announced.

Hey John.....28 days and counting until Opening Day....:D ....So far the exhibition games have looked great on D*......;)
Here is a link to an article in the St. Louis
newspaper..... http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Sports/Cardinals/DBF35872D75C8ED286256CDC000DD6E5?OpenDocument&Headline=Deal%20means%20all%20but%20about%2015%20C ards%20games%20will%20be%20televised%20this%20seas on
The part that caught my eye was...
"Baseball fans love to see the Cardinals, just look at the ratings, and this will give them even more," said Jack Donovan, who heads the local Fox Sports Net office.
The Cardinals had the third-highest rating in the major leagues last season for games carried on local cable TV packages.
Donovan said deals already have been struck to carry the games with DirecTV and Dish Network, the two big satellite television providers. He added that arrangements with some cable systems in outlying areas are in place. The key player is Charter Communications, which provides cable to more than 90 percent of the St. Louis market. And Charter's Andy Morgan said Friday that an agreement has been reached to show those additional games.

I hadn't heard that D* ever had an exclusive for NHL CI, only that E* wasn't interested. Anyone have a chronology of events, or a link to an old press release?

I thought I read an article where DTV signed up the NHL CI package through 2007, and it was exclusive deal with DTV for satellite service. I could be wrong, and I don't remember where I saw that. I'll try to find it.
I emailed Dish about the possibility of having EI added for this season and they said they were currently in negotations but couldn't announce anything at the time. If there was an exclusive, I am sure this would have been mentioned in the email. I have my fingers crossed, and I have a feeling Dish will add EI for us this season. NBA and NHL were announced at the last minute, so I expect MLB to be handled the same way. I am ready to order as soon as I see it announced!

Yea, Dish was sending out emails to people that NBA LP was an exclusive to "another provider" before the start of this season and that was added obviously. I fully expect MLB EI to be added for this season, I'd be SHOCKED if we don't see it.

A good Charlie Chat question. The link provided by Mr Corn does make it seem unlikely. But if youa re a baseball fan it is easy to be optimistic in March.

A link was posted back in October that said Direct had the exclusive for NBA LP as well, and that obviously didn't mean anything. Apparently these exclusive arrangements can be broken at the whim of the leagues.
Perhaps "exclusive" only means they were the only one up to bat, so to speak. :)
When does the Center Ice season end?

JohnH...Center Ice season ends after the second round of the NHL playoffs...which the way the NHL moves should be somewhere close to the end of June...:D And MarkL..there is no way an exclusivity agreement can be broken on the "whim of the leagues"....those are contracts and cannot be broken unless both parties agreed to it....As far as D* the exclusive deal with both the NBA and NHL simply expired and D* decided to not renew it....MLB EI has one more year to run....and the Sunday Ticket is satellite exclusive to D* for a few more years under terms of the new deal with the NFL.....(They DID in fact offer the Sunday Ticket to E* but after some talks decided against pursuing that route and instead returned to D*)
