Anyone here have Dish in their RV, what antenas and switches are needed to make this work?

I have Dishnetwork in my house and bring in 3 sattelites (61.5 and two from out west) through 2 antennas on my roof and a DP34 switch.

The wife and I just got a camper and I want to know what I need in terms of antennas and switches to make it work in the camper. Is there anything special about the dish antennas or is there a specific kind of anmtenna I need?

Generally, you'll want to stick with a single Dish 500 with a DPP Twin LNB, which will run 2 receivers (single or dual-tuner). You'll be giving up 61.5's content (HD, and possibly locals), but having to set up 2 dishes is a big pain, plus if you're using 61.5 for locals, you may end up driving out of the spot beam's footprint and wouldn't be able to get them anyway.

Which receiver(s) do you have? What is your goal?

The receiver I will be using in the camper is a VIP722. I will only have 1 TV in it. I really want to be able to get ESPN HD, ESPN 2 HD and my HD locals (Huntsville Alabama). Most of the other channels I can probably do without. I will be camping mostly in the Southeast US.

So I don't need a switch at all? I can just hook the receiver right up to the antenna?

With my motor-home setup = dish 300 with DP twin feeding a VIP211, I set up on the 119 sat and then move dish 10 degrees back and forth depending on sat wanted using meter. I find all three sats come in fine setting elev. for the 119 sat. I watch a lot of sports in HD on 129 and wife likes programing on the 110. My dish is mounted on top of motor-home.

Okay, if you are willing to re-point the dish as-needed when changing channels, you can certainly get buy with a Dish 300 and a single DP Dual LNB. And, yes, you can hook it directly to the receiver without a switch. 2 lines would be needed in order to use both tuners, but of course, both channels would have to be coming from the same satellite.

Another option would be to buy a 1000.2 dish, which picks up 119,110, and 129. Depending on your area, you might not get your local RSN or local channels, but you'd get all the national HD and SD all on one dish. And you'd only need a single line from the dish if you are using a DPP Separator behind the receiver.

I have the 722 with the 1000.2 dish (110, 119 and 129), on a tripod and get all that. Fact I am watching ESPN2 in HD right now!:D
Just 1 coax from the dish to receiver as most dishes are now integrated with the switch internally. You will need to use the seperator where it hooks into both sat inputs in the receiver.

Yup.

I have a 1000.2 dish and a 722 in my RV. I've used it in AL, MS, LA and TX quite a bit and it worked fine as long as I could get a decent shot at the satellites.
