Hi All,

Install guy came over and said Line of sight is not clear and blocked by trees (Southwest direction). Is there anything can be done?

He said I have a option to take second opinion with a Tech supervisor. From your experiences can you please share if thats helpful? or is there any other alternative?

Thank you in Advance.

You have a few options:

Chainsaw.
Pole Mount somewhere else on your property.
Second Opinion.

The second opinion thing didn't work in my case. It was the third opinion from a local satellite shop (not DirecTV techs like the first two were) that actually found my solution, which was a pole mount.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

There's also a thread by Litzdog911 that helped me get LOS from all 5 sats. It is very helpful:

Where in NY are you located. Knowing from first hand experience the Halsted guys [ HSP for NY ] are a lazy bunch.

In my case it did not help when the supervisor came out. They all came to the same conclusion. I would look and see if you can find a way to do a pole mount somewhere else on your property.

Good luck,
Earl

Even if you have to pay $75-100 extra for a pole mount, the ease of access to your dish for maintenance purposes and the strength of the installation is well worth the extra cost, provided the installer uses a spec 2" pole in about 120lbs. or more of concrete.
