View Full Version : H20 OTA - One Channel No Sound
I have 9 OTA stations programmed on my H20-600. One of the channels has no sound (80% signal strength). I have tried rebooting and changing sound from English to other languages but still nothing. All the other stations come in fine.
Anyone experience this and have a suggestion?

It might not be a problem with your equipment,it might be the station. They are making a lot of changes i notice like blank stations no sound, channels come and go.I think they are just getting ready for the transition.

Try a call or E-mail to the problem station. Or if you have a ATSC (digital) tuner in your TV try plugging the OTA directly into your TV and see if the problem is still there.
Tried an email to the station engineering group, no reply.
I can get the SD station through TV ok with sound so I don't know.

By SD station do you mean the analog channel? Also, when did this problem occur? Recently? After a software update? Did it work before?
Just put up the HD antenna so there is no history. Yes by SD I mean the ATSC station. All other HD stations come in fine, but I was wondering if there was some difference in HD tranmission methods that might cause audio problem. Someone on another board suggested SAP settings but I change audio settings on H20 box from english to all the others and still no sound.
Odd indeed I admidt.

Well if the channel has audio when connected directly to your TV that would indicate to me there is some issue between the H20 and the TV channel. Not all TV stations adhere as strictly to the ATSC standard as they should. Or as mentioned earlier they could be tweeking their setup. Or a recent software update to the H20 could have done it.
It is the H20 causing the problem. I connected to another TV with a digital tuner and the station came in fine, sound and all.
Must be some bug, since it is only a problem on one station.

Have you tried rescanning the OTA stations? That might clear up the problem like restarting the receiver fixes many satellite reception problems.
You might take a look at your audio connections for single channel audio versus stereo. I remember back when I had cable at another location, one channel had no audio. Found out they were transmitting single channel audio on the stereo side I was not connected to. Simply changing the single channel audio cable from one side to the other fixed my problem and didn't upset any other channels.

I have both audio channels feeding the TV so I think I have that covered.
Finally heard from GM at station...his response was "we are not on DirecTV". I'm now trying to explain to him how the H20 has a ASTC tuner included in the box. this is a strange situation because it is WMGM Channel 40 from Atlanitic City. They are in the PHL DMA as a NBC station even though channel 10 WCAU in PHL is a NBC station.
Like I said, if I hook up to my TV directly, I get video and audio. Through the H20 I only get video. The quality of the picture is better through the H20 is better (and I get guide information) so that's why I'm trying to get it to work on the H20.
