Guide missing data

I'm seeing problems with the program guide on my 721 and 301. The 301 only sees a few hours ahead and when I go ahead, it delays and downloads data from the satellite to complete the program. Going earlier in time it again has to refresh from the satellite. This makes the program guide not very useful.

On our 721, we see a different behavior. The program guide only has 1-2 hours of data on it and no information is available later than that. Nothing causes it to try to refresh the guid information.

We only started seeing this behavior in the last day. Before that it was working fine. I hope this gets fixed soon.

All 721 users are having problems right now. Go to the PVR board. There are discussions going there about this problem.

What you describe about the 301 is normal. Many are annoyed by this, but it can't and won't get any better.

I saw the posts on the PVR discussion board, but noticed that the problem seems more pervasive, so posted it here. I'm sure my 301 was not behaving this way earlier last week. I rebooted it and now it behaves the same as the 721. It won't download any new guide information more than a couple of hours out. I didn't really see any suggestion that would correct the problem short of an NVM reset, but I don't see how that will help if the problem is with Dish itself, not my system.

Dave the 301 and all non PVR receivers have had slow download problems on the guide since Jan 2002 when DISH had to add the local channels. This increased the data stream information considerably. They(DISH) is trying to compress the data stream to speed up the download but that is still in the future.
