I'm having a problem with the Audio on HBO-E. It seems to drop out for a second every 15 or 20 seconds. I have a PVR 508 unit with the optical link run into my receiver. Anyone else having this problem?
software version p169
same here 2 nights in a row!!
3rd day in a row! Only on the east coast feed, Showtime and Stars are fine. By the way I am getting it on a 501.I figured more people would be complaining hate the thought of calling dish!
I, too, am experiencing drop outs on BOTH HBO and Showtime. I am using the Dolby Digital optical link from my 721 to my receiver. I have not tuned to Starz to learn if it happens there or not.

We should contact E* I used the AV quality email address: DishQuality@Echostar.com I hope you guys will also! I hope they respond soon!
OK no1, I just fired off an email to that address. I will advise if and when I receive a reply.
I would hope everyone is doing MORE then just sending off an e-mail. Calling tech support is the preferred method. I found my 721 having the dropout problem with channel 300 (satellite 119, transponder 2). When I asked if they had anyone previously report it, they didn't find any. A couple with the 501/508 eventually came up, but nothing with the 721.
I also requested a credit for HBO as it's not coming in well, at least on channel 300, making it really difficult to even try and watch a show. Supposedly 184 (Animal Planet) is on the same transponder. It's one thing to send off e-mails, but to be assured you've done all you can, it's even better to call tech support, and for 721 users, advanced tech support.
And yes, my guide is also gone, they're working on it still (uh huh), but I resolved it doing the NVM reset as noted in the appropriate post.
You are right on Danbo! I received a reply and it is only the boiler plate blah blah blah. I'm sure no one even read my actual email. As soon as I sign off I will phone tech support as you suggested.
I'lm curious why your picture quality on 300 would be so poor? My PQ is excellent, it's just the Dolby 5.1 dropouts that are bugging me. Where are you located? I am in Northern California.

You will receive personal reply as well. The boilerplate goes out initially but you will receive a personal reply hopefully today. I have worked with them before.

I got a reply from AV Quality. I really like working with them, they get right on things. Here it is:
Thank you for expressing your concerns and interest in the DISH Network. Customer input is an important tool in our efforts to continuously improve the quality of the DISH Network service.
We have verified the problem on HBO-E channel 300 that you identified. You are most likely correct in that it is not your receiver. We have received some other complaints on HBO audio on three other models of receivers. We are currently troubleshooting this problem and also have our Baseband Engineering team working on it. It appears that we are receiving the satellite feed with the drops. We will no doubt be contacting HBO and working with them to resolve this problem. Is your complaint related to Dolby Digital audio or audio in general? We will keep you informed as we work this issue.
Thank you,

I just received a similar reply to my complaint to them. Looks like they are working on it. I am pleased that they have taken our concerns seriously and replied promptly. Kudos to the dishquality team!
A big thank's guys for doing the leg work on this. After having a dishplayer for almost 4 years and calling almost every month, the thought of calling was bring back bad memories of a bad relationship.
